Joining a sorority as a commuter?

So i’m a second semester sophomore and i live about 17ish minutes from my school. I’ve never been to a party and I feel like i have trouble making real friends. I’ve made a couple friends but not the type of friends that you hang out with a lot outside of clubs or class.

I was thinking of joining a sorority because I heard that you really feel like you belong somewhere and you make really good friends. So i was wondering, do sororities look down upon commuters? Like what do they think about them?

My school isn’t a super Greek dominated school and we don’t have any housing requirements for sororities.

It really depends on the school and the sorority so I don’t think anyone can give you an accurate answer.

I went to a big flagship and quite a few of our members were commuters. Some lived in the sorority house, some lived at home. For those who lived at home, it did give them a base near campus, they ate at the house on Mon and Wed nights, and often on Saturdays too.

However, don’t join for the parties or you’ll be disappointed (they aren’t that wild).
