I am a senior this year an when applying to colleges, I applied as undecided but recently have decided that I would like to go into Pre-Med.

I was wondering if pre-med was a program that I can just sign up for in the beginning of the year? Or did I have to apply to a specific school in the colleges I applied to? I put in my application that I was undecided but interested in journalism and health care. But recently I realized I'm more interested in pre-med. Will this be a problem?

Schools I applied to: University of Miami (accepted), BU, BC, GW, Tufts, Fordham

pre-med isn’t a program, it’s a course track. you generally have to go into each school’s arts and sciences program, but i don’t think it’s very hard to do once you’re there. i highly doubt that it’s a problem, it’s good that you know early in fact, so now you can start with pre-med requisites your freshman year.

arod, see the sticky thread at the top of this forum about Premed coursework. You can completed premed courses within any major.

Pick a major that you like and complete the pre-med reqts.

2 sems of bio
2 sems of chem
2 sems of Ochem
2 sems of physics
1 sem of calculus

^^These are the basic premed requirements (plus labs). However, be aware that you need to check the website of any Med school you are interested in as requirements do vary (eg. some schools have requirements for English, biochem, stats, additional bio, etc.).
