for the joint degree essay that asks about your interest, did you guys who got accepted write about practically the same thing in your penn general “why penn” essay? Or did you separate them?

ie. if applying to m&t, Penn general essay was about your interest in technology, while m&t essay was about how management will nicely supplement and could easily be integrated into your technologically-focus career. OR Penn and m&t essays were about interest in both management and technology, but you highlight different subjects in each essay.

I think the joint degree essay is asking you to write about something that interests you... not necessarily why you want to go to Penn. In my 'Why Penn' I wrote about me wanting to go to Penn and be in the Huntsman Program, but then for my Huntsman essay, I wrote about sustainable economic development.

in my why penn essay I wrote like 3 lines about how I found hte huntsman program... then in my huntsman essay I wrote about how I want to be a consultant for an adverstising firm and how global viewpoints on different stuff create barriers in business and you need people who know both sides and that type of thing. I don't think I actually mentioned Huntsman or Penn in my essay at all actually.

@athlonmj: I originally only planned on SEAS, but then decided to shoot for the stars :) If I don't get joint-degree, there's always my first-choice major.
