Hi I was wondering if anyone knew any more information about the joint business and technology program at Penn, I'm pretty sure it's called the Jerome Fisher Program. I was wondering if anyone knew anything about Computer Science majors who were in it. Also I was wondering about the qualifications. I'll list my stats briefly even though I'm a rising junior so there isn't much there yet:

GPA: 4.4 (somewhere in top 5/350)

I take the most rigorous courses possible

PSAT (i know this doesn't mean anything but i'll put it anyways): 2010 (700 math/650 verbal/ 660 writing)

Extracurrics: Student Council (VP), Mock Trial (Captain), Orchestra (concertmaster), Field Hockey (I'm awful), Debate, Key Club

Special Extracurrics for my intended majors: I take Computer courses at a local community college and I'm attending this program at Microsoft this summer for girls who are interested in Computer Science and Business

Do you have to be superhuman to get into this or do I stand a chance? Thanks so much!

well i mean i think they're supposed to go up because you study for the SATS and you don't study for the PSATS they went up like 300 points for my sister whose were approximately the same so i'm not too worried.

but is there anything else anyone can tell me about the program or what you should do to make yourself a desirable canidate?

I would say that in the classes of 2009, 2010, and 2011, there are more international students than Americans in M&T. It's definitely not going to hurt you by itself, but do note that Penn is not need-blind for international students.

Are you sure? Even for Huntsman there are more domestic than international students (for 07,08,09,10 it's 137 US vs. 53 International) and Huntsman seems to be "more international".

You caught me. Looking at the list of students now, for 2011 it's more like half and half. It certainly isn't going to hurt you to be an international student, but there are some areas where competition is fierce: New Jersey, Long Island, and South Asia.

IB diploma candidate - I take the most rigorous course in the school. And im the only person taking that course.

My stats:

CR 700 M 800 W 750 (2250)

I was wondering for GPA, do they look at the last two years or the last three years?

This year GPA: 3.94/4 UW 4.92/5 W

Next two years will probably be perfect GPA.

Rank 1 or 2 / 100

Do they value ECs, because I don't have that many...
Some:
P of student council, Head boy, P of environment committee, Regional youth council...blah blah blah.... won some top of country awards for various subjects...captain of badminton, basketball and table tennis teams. nationally ranked in table tennis.

hmmm i was wondering if there are any stats showing how many applied to this program and how many got in. And does ED increase chances for this JF program?

and what are the chances of getting into this programme after being admitted after the first year?

It's believed that the odds are better for ED, but the acceptance criteria are exactly the same for both pools. Apply ED if you are certain you wish to attend Penn.

Internal transfer is due to be phased out. (The last year for it was supposed to be two years ago, but if the normal yield is low enough or enough people drop out, they may take a few (2 or 3) internal transfers.

i remember reading in the DP that the Jerome Fisher yield hit a record high this past year. either that's a legitimate rise in the percentage of people choosing the program, or i wonder if there were more ED acceptees as a proportion of the total class
