i have heard that this program is insanely competitive and admits only 50 students. if anyone has got into this program, please post ur stats here and the secret behind ur admission?
how important is the essay 1c??

My friend is a freshman in the program now. He had a 4.0 gpa, 2390 sat. He was captain of our tennis team, I'm not sure what other EC's he had. But he was a double legacy, so I'm sure that helped.

my friend got in, he was an international (indian citizen applying from Indonesia)
His SAT was 2270, school didnt rank but he had good grades in IB classes, and he told me that in junior year he had a 57 in IB english but yet he was admitted to Jerome Fisher...he had a ton of community service projects, including helping tsunami victims in indonesia..he also played lead roles in school plays...oh, and he also didnt ask for financial aid, so that was probably another hook

oh, thanks
but is it necessary to have business related activities or awards??
i heard that u need to have run a small company or something!!
or is it ok if u r strong in engineering and express strong interest & passion for business in the essay(this is what i did)??

I hope so, cause otherwise, I'm screwed. Has anyone had an M&T interview? I have one this weekend and my interviewer actually went to the program and wants to talk to/interview me specifically about the program. yikes!

I was deferred from M&T ED so I had an interview back in november, but it wasn't M&T specific. I don't know if applying additionally to M&T instead of just Wharton led me to being deferred simply because their final pool is so small. I definitely don't have any activities that I would call stellar like the other applicants above though..

Odds are you won't have an M&T-specific interview. It's a small program, and fairly new, so there isn't a huge alum base out there. My impression of the interview is that it's more of an overall Penn-fit interview.

Finally, I'll say this, because I've actually discussed it with the adcom. There's no magic bullet or special activity they're looking for with M&T. There's no one thing you have to have, or certain level you have to meet.

Mattwonder, I'm curious about a few points since you've talked to them about the program:

If they're considering a candidate ED for Huntsman/Fisher/etc who is qualified for their "single" choice but not quite certain for the program, do they have a tendency to defer the student instead of simply putting them in the single choice ED? That seems to have been a trend among some kids I talked to.

I believe you choose which option you want - to be considered ED for your single choice or to be deferred and considered again for joint-degree programs.

The M&T admissions group doesn't really care about your single choice. They'll evaluate you independently of that option. Additionally, the ED vs. RD joint-program stats fluctuate year to year - it's impossible to draw any conclusions from them.
