Journal Published Research - First Author vs Multiple

Hi guys,

I was just wondering, in terms of undergrad as well as medical school admissions, which would be more distinguished: having first/second author on a few publications, or having third/lower authorships on multiple journal publications?

Also, does first-author research published in journals have a significant impact in terms of undergrad admissions and 7 year programs or is it commonplace?

Thanks!

not commonplace and not much of a boost since there are so many factors outside your control that determine whether or not you get a paper.

1st author is always better than not 1st author.
