im wondering how many Yalies out there plan on a journalism career and what did you major in?

My cousin is a Yalie and is currently working for Time Magazine, after publishing two small articles in the NY Times. She was an English major, with a semi-minor in philosophy. She says that almost any Yale grad can move into the journalism field as long as basic writing skills are existent in that individual. So I guess you really don't have to worry aboutthe major as long as you are a solid writer.

yale has the yale daily news, which is the oldest college newspaper in the country and unquestionably one of the best (i think it's the best, but i may be biased :) ). the ydn is really well-known and people who write for it often go on to write for the new york times, washington post, etc. etc. while yale doesn't have an actual journalism major or program (probably you'd major in something along the lines of english, political science, history, etc. if you want to be a journalist, although of course you can major in whatever you want...it doesn't really matter), yale does have a really really good paper with famous alumni like joe lieberman, william f. buckley jr., and gary trudeau who writes and draws the comic doonesbury). go to www.yaledailynews.com to check it out. :)
