JPL visit outside photo

Ok, this will be a weird question. I have been admitted for graduate study at Caltech. I’m planning to visit sometime this month (I have not been notified of visiting days, though). I also want to visit JPL, but according to their website there are no tours available.

Now, there are prime places to take photos at JPL, see below:

I don’t know my way around JPL. So my question is, could I go and take a photo in the places shown above? or it is within the restricted area?.

I’m not absolutely certain, but I believe the only JPL sign you can take a photo of without have a pass is the “Welcome to our Universe” sign at the booth where your car will be stopped. Otherwise, all of JPL is restricted I think. You can see that sign on Google street view but can’t go any farther.

Note that if you know someone who works at JPL, they may be able to get you a visitor pass with advance notice of the specific day. That may depend on your citizenship, however.

Congrats on your graduate admission!
