Howdy folks,
My D and I just returned from NYC - Juilliard and Fordham auditions. She went through the whole 15 hour day at Juilliard, through interview & fell in love with the program. It's a long wait until 2/14 when we hear about the 2nd round callbacks, so I thought I'd reach out to others, and maybe get a few questions answered.

Is there anyone on this site than can describe the final callback scenario?

Thanks!

My D went through final callbacks last year. It was a very intensive weekend, jam packed with classes, workshops, activities. She thoroughly enjoyed the process and learned a great deal. There was a little over 40 people called back. They took 18 and waitlisted I believe 5. Out of the 18 last year 10 were masters level, 8 were undergrad level. 5 boys 3 girls. My daughter said the experience was incredible. The only thing that bothered her was the comments from the students there about how stressed they were and how they hated their social lives. This made her decision a little easier when they discussed staying on the waitlist and coming back to audition this year if the waitlist didn’t work out. Her program now, she feels, is very similar but the environment feels a bit more nurturing and fun. But definitely take advantage of callbacks and enjoy it all. It is a very special experience where you will grow as an actor even in such a short time.

Thanks so much, Actingmom 18! It does seem like the program’s intensity leaves little time for fun and socializing, however that seems to be the case at many conservatories. May I ask which program your daughter chose?

London Academy Of Music and Dramatic Arts. You wouldn’t think in London they would be so nurturing and community oriented but when she originally spoke with the students at each school to compare the difference in the level of spirit and excitement for the school, the results were very different. She saw that the training at each was very comparable but she did get a different vibe. Obviously they both are fantastic programs. Feel free to ask any other questions and good luck.

Wow, that’s great. Thanks. She didn’t apply there; I think we found the overseas thing intimidating. I’m glad your daughter has found a great match, and we’ll see what happens at Juilliard. I do worry about time for socializing and self care…

Any final callback weekend notifications yet?
