Your son should be able to figure out from that when his finals are. Not all classes have finals exams (some might have projects or papers), and some that do have exams have it instead the last week of classes. Usually the professors will have listed that in the syllabus.

OK. I will ask him. I just want to see when he can be back for Xmas.

I don’t know how other students do. Talking to him is like squeezing the toothpaste. I ask 10 questions, got one word answer something like that. :(

I have a question about how to set up parent’s account to view the student’s schedule, grade etc.

From WebCenter 'Information specific to your student such as their account balance, financial status, course schedules and final semester grades can be accessed through the Invited Viewer Access in iSIS. '

So my son log in to his ISIS account. he clicked ‘privacy setting’. It is about ‘FEAPA/Directory restrictions’. He clicked ‘Edit’, uncheck the ‘restrict’ box. Now I still do not know how to login to isis to view his schedule. He checked his Tufts’s email account, no any emails regarding how to set up my account.

it says ‘the student must invite you to give you the invite key’. But it did not say how the student invites the parents and give them the key or how I request it?

When your son invites you and gives you permission to see grades, etc. he will see an invite key on the screen in all capitals. He has to physically give you that key because when you get the email telling you the student invited you the key is not there. I just watched my son do this for me and it worked perfectly.

Or he could just tell you his grades at the end of every semester; that’s all my parents asked for. I know that several of my friends don’t even talk about grades with their folks.

The only info you’ll be able to see is his final grades and financial info. My son tells me all his grades as they come in and I know financial info anyway. I write down his schedule before he leaves for semester only to know when he’s free so I don’t bother him during class.
But, I’m paying $60000 for him to attend Tufts so he needs to tell us about his grades. He has no problem with that. He lets us know about every test or essay grade without any prompting from us.

My recollection is that during freshman orientation my son gave us access to something that lets us see what courses he’s taking and eventually the final grades an also whether we owe them money. I can find out the grades faster just by asking him what he got. We don’t hear about every grade for every test and paper by any means, but we talk once a week and sometimes we talk about tests or papers and sometimes we talk about TV shows or books or news.

With all your help, I created my isis account. I am able to see my son’s schedule, grades. I open his unofficial transcript. It shows his 5 out of 6 APs. At the end, it shows he totally earned 9 credits (5APs + 4 courses he took in Fall). My son had no clue how the school picked the APs, especially like Bio AP and Physics since he has not planed to take them in Spring yet. But anyway, it does not matter much. It’s just my info to the parents.

Like momworried said, I really wanted to know his schedule, so I can arrange when to call him, especially we have 3 hrs difference. Last Fall, he gave me his schedule in Oct. He told me his test grade whenever he had it.

The school picks the APs arbitrarily. Don’t worry about it so much. If he takes Bio 13 next fall and hasn’t taken Bio 14, the Bio AP will be automatically changed to cover Bio 14. When is about to graduate and it turns out he really needs to use the 6th AP that wasn’t chosen (for a humanities distribution requirement or something), there’s just a one page form that he needs to fill out; no big deal.

I just looked at my son’s unofficial transcript. He came in with a 5 in BC calc which I thought gives you 2 credits for math. However it’s listed as only 1 credit for math 34 (calculus 2). But he told me when he looked at his distribution requirements both his math courses were fulfilled So I’m a little confused.

This is directly from Tufts site:
AB 4 or 5, or BC 4, or BC 3 with an AB sub-score of 4 or 5: One credit, equivalent to Mathematics 32, and placement into Mathematics 34 or one mathematics credit and placement into Mathematics 39.

BC 5: Two credits, equivalent to Mathematics 32 and 34, and placement into Mathematics 42, 44, 70, or 72.

TuftsStudent, he took psychology 31 this semester which is different then calc and wouldn’t take it’s place. And he came in with 5 AP credits. Right now on his transcript it says 4 AP Credits.

Eh, don’t worry about it too much. I think Psych 31 is Psych Stats, so his distributions are probably being taken care of by Math 34 and Psych 31. Only four AP credits are showing up on the unofficial transcript, or five?

So just to follow up. My son contacted student services and just like I suspected there was a mistake on his transcript. So they added 1 credit for the calculus course. I was impressed how quickly it was handled. He sent them an email couple of hours ago and his transcript is already fixed.

I have a question about the meal plan for the sophomore year. What did your kid or you have?

I think unlimited costs too much ($2776), 220 plan ($2542) only has $200 difference with unlimited. maybe 160 meals ($1849)? I don’t really know how much can be saved if go to other places other than the dinning hall. Like one meal about $5?

And when should we notify the school that we want different meal plan? When paying the bill during the summer?
