yup. this is it

I thought it was alright, about the same difficulty as the AP questions, which weren't that bad. Is it really true that 15 blank/12 wrong equate to an 800?

yeah normally.
I'm gonna witness the effect of 8-days-of-working-my-ass-off
session on Barron's. I finished the entire book btw

I did Barron's too, but I'm not sure I did so well. :( I chalk it up to nerves.

I thought it was easier than the practice exams I took.

I picked up my Barrons in the car to cram this morning and I was suprised to see how many of the random sections of the book that I skimmed ended up on the test. I can't imagine how much better I would've done had I read the entire book.

I <3 BARRONS.

wat did u guys get for the question that about the last country to give universal women's suffrage or was it abolish slavery... btw i thought it was ok

It was about slavery and the answer was Brazil

Here are some answers I remember:

Third Rome: Moscow
Limited Women's rights: Ayatollah Khomeini
Countries w/ female leaders: India, Pakistan, Philippines
United Fruit company: Central America
Panama Canal: Panama was free from Colombian rule
Hunter-Gather societies: Relatively free of labor specialization (or something like that)
Last S.American country to ban slavery: Brazil
Civs that lived at the same time, but had no contact: Mayans and the Romans
Most common jobs in the late 20th century: Services
The Popul Vuh was a Mayan creation myth
Civ that used knotted string as a method communication: Inca (quipu)

Why were alphabets better than hieroglyphs/ideograms? I said because they didn't require people to memorize as many letters... but I wasn't sure...

What else was there?

Also: What was not a factor for starting WW1? Was it American imperialism?

I put the same thing for the alphabet. The phoenician alphabet had only like 22 letters, while extensive training was needed to become a scribe in other languages.

Gandhi used the spinning wheel as a symbol of India's struggle for self sufficiency. Don't remember the answer choices.

Hunter-Gather societies: Relatively free of labor specialization (or something like that)
----I don't even remember a choice like that. Was that the first question?

Anyways, are we allowed to discuss these questions?

how about the one saying which region do the europeans possess influence/dominance/power (something like that) in 2000? central america, i hope?

In another post the mod said it was OK.

Ragstoriches:
I thought Third Rome was Kiev (Kievan Rus)?
And for the Panama Canal, I thought Panama gained its independence after the canal started building?
But I agree with your other answers.

For the alphabet one, I put it was easier to memorize. Written Chinese uses glyph-characters, and it is a pain to learn and remember.

America had nothing to do with the start of either of the World Wars; it joined later on.

rechin01717:how about the one saying which region do the europeans possess influence/dominance/power (something like that) in 2000? central america, i hope?

I think I remember putting Caribbean for that one

Why did Japan allow the Dutch to stay, while expelling other nations? I put because the Dutch were only interested in trade, not in religion.

The image with the Jesuit Matteo Ricci in China: I put that some missionaries had to adopt Chinese customs to appeal to more people (or something like that)

the Dr. Seuss cartoon: If India continued its policies of non-involvement, then Japan would easily take it over (something similar)

Which country was falling while the Dutch were prospering? I said Portugal

There was something about iron in Sub-Saharan Africa... I said that iron working preceded bronze working in Sub-Saharan Africa... not sure though

China was interested in showing its power during the Ming Dynasty expeditions

The scramble for Africa began with the Berlin Conference

There was a question about the effect of industrialism... I said that women bore more children during that time... not sure about that one either...

What else was there?

yeah i put caribean for that one..i omitted 3, prob missed like 15-20. Is that an 800?

Yeah I think its the Carribean, because if you remember the Natalie Holloway case the Netherlands still has jurisdiction over Aruba... and then theres the British Virgin Islands...

Oh, and what about the question with the United States relationship with Mexico during the '30s?

The animosity was over the Mexicans granting Trostky asylum, I hope?

ragstoriches, i got al ur answers, but for the iron one, i put something else, it said EXCEPT, and bronze preceding iron was true..wait..nvm. it said iron preceding bronze?? i thought i said bronze preceding iron..oh well.
