I have to admit that when I open my ACT score today! My composite score for the whole test was a 20! I guess have to retake it again!

Scores are finally up for free. Mine are:

English: 30
Math: 36
Reading: 30
Science: 33

Composite: 32 (if I got one more point, I would have gotten a 33 right?)

Writing: 9 (Wrote about 2 pages)
Combined English/Writing: 29

This is my fourth time taking it... I was really hoping for a 33. I got a 32 on my April testing as well. Oh well, no more ACTs for me.

Did anyone receive a letter stating that due to disorganization at the testing site (?) they were eligible to take the ACT again for free? This occurred in CT. Wondering what they meant by disorganization?

so was your score miscalculated?

gahhhhh my scores are still not available!!!

It means that the conditions at the test site or the way the test was administered probably hampered many testers' ability to do their best, and someone complained. Probably meant some combination of the following: kids got put in the wrong rooms and had to be moved, things didn't start on time, they gave kids the wrong test books or answer sheets and had to start over, the proctor called 5 minutes left when there were 15, or something along those lines. Or it could be a gross euphemism for some disaster, like the time a cat fell through the ceiling during the test.

I don't think the score was miscalculated, but have not requested hand scoring, perhaps that might be considered. From the letter it is clear that the scores are not being thrown out. I guess somehow the testing situation deviated from what is required.

mama-- I assume you're talking about the Danbury, CT test center. I was there and also received this letter. What happened was ACT did not send enough tests to the Danbury test center, so about 30 confirmed testers for Danbury were unable to take the test, and also Danbury had no room for standby testers. We had an alternate test date on June 24, and have yet to receive scores. I was under the assumption that only those who were unable to test would receive free tests, but I guess they sent it to everyone who tested that day, which is a huge loss for ACT because the Danbury test center is one of the largest ACT test centers.

That's too bad, I heard some people talking about having to go to Danbury, I think I just registered in time to get my own school, never heard from them about how the test went (or didn't go) or anything though.

Thanks for the tip that they're up online for free, I wasn't about to pay $8 again for writing. I got a 12 essay, don't know how that happened, I was so confused when I saw it and wasn't able to back up the question with books like the SATs lol.

Thank god they assigned me to East Hartford High School, CT and not Danbury

y in New YOrk,,, u cant take it on September!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

31 composite
english score really brought me down...surprisingly
but I'm pretty satisfied with my score, but considering a retake

Wow really surprised because I thought I did horribly especially because I probably prepped for a total of one hour.

31 English
32 Math
29 Reading
30 Science

10 writing

Composite: 31

I still think I'm retaking in October because I didn't prep at all and thought I was having such a hard time focusing in the test room.

I finally got my scores (minus the essay)

34 English
29 Math
28 Reading
29 Science

Composite: 30

Not bad, but I really wanted a 31 or 32 so I will probably retake it in October. Since I didn't study at all this time I think it can be done. :)

Got my June scores in the mail today finally. Compared to my April ACT scores:

E: 36 (+1)
M: 34 (+7)
R: 30 (+1)
S: 34 (+11)
Writing: 8/12 (+3)

Composite: 34 (+5)

I'm very happy with the scores. They are everything i'd hoped for. The reading surprised me a little though, since I thought I did better on it than that. Glad to finally be done with the ACT!

Nice score, mo! What did you do to prepare for such a drastic improvement?
