yeah......

Anybody remember the questions from the first section of the test? Anyone know the curve from the first test?

Thanks!

Do most people feel like the first two sections were the hardest?

What did you get for:

What is the purpose of the last couple words of the Life Is Boring poem (behind: me, wag)? One of the answer choices was something about how it's ironically funny that he's alone.

For the grief poem, the monument means all of the following except what? Is it the idealization of the dead?

For the grief poem, is the desert compared to grieving people or is it compared to all souls?

What does dancing mean for the train ride story? Is it a physical movement that shows happiness?

I think I underestimated this exam. I'm usually great at anlaysis like this, but that was not easy.

I put something like that it was a wry way of realizing why he's alone...or something along those lines. Don't remember for sure.

I said idealization of the dead.

I said grieving people.

I said dancing showed joy and optimism. If that's the question you mean.

Does anyone remember what the other choices were for the disillusionment question?

What about the one that said: all of these are themes EXCEPT (from the one with all of the fog and mud).

THIS TEST WAS KILLER.

I literally sat there, flipped through the passages one by one, and gave up.

That was death. I'm just glad other people thought so too.
I completely ran out of time and was rushed for the last two passages.

What was all that symbolism about the geese? I was so rushed, I had absolutely no time to comprehend that.

OH, also, did any of the study books include the full November 2006 test?

i thought it was really hard, but it wasn't because of time... I finished with a little over 20 minutes left over, but i didn't check my answers because i would just second guess myself and end up with a worse score :(

what would the waiter smiling do to his dignity? remember that one?

what did the comparisons say about the diners on the train? i think the answers were feel pleased about the inexpensive meal, long for home cooked food, approve of the kitchen staff training (i picked that)...

I'm pretty sure that answer was the one about revealing his private woes. I was torn between that one and one other one that sounded similar, but after thinking about it i think the other one is the very opposite. Did that make any sense at all?

not really.

haha. basically i'm pretty positive the answer was the one about not wanting to reveal his "private woes"

I thought that the answer to that question was the one about the waiter engaging in a compulsory and forced (it was worded differently than that) act by having to smile. Because he's actually more happy not smiling - the smiling is something he has to do for the white passengers, so it wouldn't make sense that he was hiding his private woes by smiling.

what were the other choices?

yea this test was hard but I prayed-It helped as some of my guesses were confirmed
I read REALLY FAST and almost didn't finish the test

The First passage almost made me quit because it was SO BORING! Felt like I was reading Ms Dalloway again

The Grief poem was fun
LIFE is Boring- um yea it was wierd
The one about WOmen- That was actually alrite, I kinda laughed during it
The Race one- was a real challenge

All in all I probably missed 5-7 questions- hopefully good enough for a 700+

Anyone get the question about either Personification or Similie as the choices? I narrowed it down to those two, and it did have AS as it, but it also said something about fog breathing or something...so I put personification..

RIDICULOUSLY DIFFICULT. I had to rush through and I still quite a few blank. I felt like I misinterpreted several times, only to be comforted by rereading the passage again. And then I was struck by a panic attack realizing I probably really did misinterpret.

Sounds like theres gonna be a huge curve on this test...
