June 2006 - US History

If someone can find a quote that says Hamilton wanted the US to be a world power by means of a strong economy, then we have a really F'ed up question on our hands.

LOL

"The accumulation of wealth was not Hamilton's goal; he wanted to encourage the use of private wealth for beneficial enterprises. Hamilton envisioned a STRONG ECONOMY in which EVERYONE COULD PARTICIPATE AND PROFIT."

<a href="http://www.let.rug.nl/usa/B/hamilton/hamil19.htm%5B/url%5D">http://www.let.rug.nl/usa/B/hamilton/hamil19.htm</a></p>

Cool?

Yes there was question on the bessemer process...

So ranks, which do you think it is? That just says he envisioned a strong economy. But it says he wanted people to be involved as well.

I am completely split 50/50, that quote basically provided evidence for both.

Why the hell does collegeboard pull BS questions like this?

To make a thread 800 posts along on random college-prep websites?

Edit: Now we need to decide whether their goals were to aim for a strong SAT USH discussion or to get more people involved in talking about SAT USH.

~.~

ahah, anyway, I think we pretty much cleared up all the questions on the test except that one and the Madison/Jackson one, which I provided evidence for but some still disagree. That ones a tough one to reach a consensus on.

So what does everyone think they got?

I'm guessing 780-760 for me, I'm kinda ****ed not because of the score but because I made stupid mistakes on about 5 questions that would have got me 790/800.

I made a lot of stupid mistakes; I'm contemplating slapping myself till the end of time.

-6 (including .25 for each wrong) so Im hoping 800. However, if it was madison instead of jackson and strong economy instead of more people, then it will be -8.

I remember being 100% sure when I read that quote that the answer was Madison. Also, I was just about as sure that the answer was strong economy.

And if i recall correctly, the last question wasn't simply "which of the following was not a problem in the 1970s" i think it was something more specific. For some reason I'm thinking it said something with economic problems in the 1970s.

thats pretty funy char...you posted your want for an 800 on the 800th post. :X

and if it was something with economic problems, I think the answer was vietnam.

And if i recall correctly, the last question wasn't simply "which of the following was not a problem in the 1970s" i think it was something more specific. For some reason I'm thinking it said something with economic problems in the 1970s.

It did indeed say economic problems. I do not think it is Vietnam because Vietnam lasted untill 1973.

I just want 720+, I suck at US

AJ I think you may be wrong on both of those questions. I read up on them.

And that #800 thing is funny.

I also put army for that infamous question. I've read through your posts MED, and I am pretty sure that army is the correct answer. ICMB's were a major concern of the United States after they were used by the USSR to launch Sputnik in 1957.

<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ICBM#History%5B/url%5D">http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ICBM#History</a></p>

hmmm, my instincs don't usually fail me like that, I saw that question and thought "federalist papers" before I even looked at the choices...odd.

yeah thermo-nukes were used to launch sputnik
