June 2009 SAT Writing!

^ what Bee said is correct.

no haha i think it would be right without the comma

Did we decide on the one about dinosaurs and bees, butterflies?

wait so Bee and Zap, is A (original) correct then?

yes. and, although we have discussed this to death and I for one am sick of it: did we reach a conclusion on the courses question? was it A or E?

Lets just call it a toss up and go outside and play basketball = D

A is correct on #13 on last section
cuz
E is wrong
however with comma can only serve as interceptor
like
I, however, did this.
choice E had two complete sentences and however inbetween, which means there has to be a semicolon.

haha rtgrove good idea!

ok so what about #14 section 10

I thought the “By them” was referring to the wrong thing so I put the answer choice “were…”

section 8 is never a writing…

Can someone list all the no errors on the section where you find the error in the sentence?

@rlag fixed

I mean section 10 last question

any consensus?

@mabsjenbu123
i put A - “were they to be told blah blah”
by giving them does not make sense. that sounds like participants are giving something to “them”. and we don’t even know who “them” is…

@rlag
that’s EXACTLY what I thought too

I thought it was kinda ambigious

Though none of the choices sounded great, I thought A was best

anyone else have opinions?

yep i put A

I was worried cause a few ppl in the beginning of the thread put “By them”

the only reason i hesitated on #14 is cuz i would have 2 A’s in a row if 14 is A.
In conclusion,

13 and #14 are both A.

for D-day, i put due to blah.
is that wrong for sure?

@rlag
2 in a row usually never worries me
I have seen on some tests four D’s in a row

i put “due to the effects of the storm postponing it…” beacuse its the active voice saying the storm postponed the event

“having been postponed by the effects of the storm…” is passive saying the event was postponed by the storm

i thought CB liked active voice and disliked passive? so thats why i put Due to…

maybe im wrong altogether haha i dont know

the having been was a better choice i think
