June 2010: Biology

5 wrong, 1 ommitted on bio E
what would my score be then?

what was the RNA virus answer then…

you probably didnt read the EXCEPT part and screwed up.

crap, looking back on the water one,

i put solvent, but now i’m second guessing.

when it says the charges, was it phrased in a way that insinuates ionic bonds or polar covalent bonds with dipoles?

-4 …not sure if i should retake it in october now…

@violinplayer:
Those were two separate questions. The first one was an EXCEPT question, and the answer was “water is an effective solvent” since it had nothing to do with translocation.

The second one (it was much later in the test, may have been in Bio-E) asked about which one had the LEAST to do with movement of water in the xylem and the answer was “soil pH”. Soil pH obviously has nothing to do with transpirational pull-cohesion tension, so there’s your answer.

Nono, I saw the except part. I still don’t see why that isn’t a reasonable answer.

@ Overrated, it was anaphase 1. Homologous PAIRS.

mk. I see what I did wrong now.

@biodudeyay, thats a 74 raw score, umm I would say 760-770

higher water concentration means theres more water molecule, so less solvent and less concentration of solvents

water DOES move from an area of high concentration to an area of low concentration by diffusion, so that does account for its movement and transportation.

I knew the Pituitary Gland couldn’t have made sense for the 3 fact question thing.
I put Pancreas at first but I kept thinking it produced Bile for some reason grrrrr.

What was the answer to the one that asked something like “what part of the human body is affected first by a snake bite?”

I put Nervous system.
And actually that makes a lotta sense now that I’m thinking about it

****, i didn’t put water as an effective solvent. I put the “both positive and negative charges”. NOOO. I meant to put the solvent one. Crap. Ok , assuming i get -7 and 1 omit, that’s probably a 760 ish right?. and @jazzyindy–that’s a 75 raw score, yielding about 780 ish. I could live with a 760.

If you looked at the chart, cobra has an neurotoxin, which would affect the nervous system.

Wait crap, was it the Pancreas? That IS what I put. :<

I’ve already canceled mine, but what does around a -8 yield on bio - M?

Oh, at least I’m still in the 750 range. I’ll do better in October hopefully.

fresh101
your raw score is 70 and
according to the college board, thats like 730

im sorry

^a 750-760ish. That’s what im at right now. DAMN! Should i cancel? Im applying to ivies.

@carneyvore b.c the toxin said “neurotoxic” & neuro = brain –> nervous system

and it was that the water was an effective solvent. that had nothing to do it being transported up.

@beguile, probably a 730-750

fresh101

with raw score of 70, you CANNOT get any higher than 730 lol

OKay I’m confused about the water question…
Now I’m wondering if I didn’t read it right.
Does anyone remember what it asked and the choices?
