June 2010 Critical Reading

wait do we know which one was the experimental section?

@nooblet, emotions was wrong.

it was like acceptance that the past is gone… etc…

wait isnt it uncontreversial? also isnt it modern day?

what was the wierd sentence completion question that had a pair of vocabulary words and went something like this?:
native american tribes first something art…and showed theytheir promise

I wrote “blank”, fulfilling

I think it was matured, fulfilling and I had that as well

it has to be charismatic - his followers were so devoted to him.

And ditto to matured fufilling.

@thequestionmark
i remember it was “release emotional burden” or something like that…
it basically meant that by accepting that they were not in exile, but there pernamently, they would be happier because they would release emotional burden

maybe we are talking about the same answer choice??

The Roosevelt question was like – “President Franklin Delano Roosevelt was ___________; his supporters had a strong devotion to him.” That’s paraphrasing, but that’s the main point of the sentence.

The choices were Hedonistic, Charismatic, Uncontroversial, Egotistical, and one more, which definitely wasn’t the answer.

I initially put charismatic as the answer, but then I was like, how would the strength of his character imply devotion on the behalf and I eliminated all of the other choices except for hedonistic. And ended up putting that.

I don’t think hedonistic is correct, but I still have a problem with the charismatic choice, although it’s probably the best answer.

@nooblet

yessir. I think we are talking about the same answer choice, though “A)” was also about emotions.

@kangster
yea i did get like 3 Bs

Yeah I got a lot of Bs on the SC.

the possible answer was “egocentric” not egotistical

charismatic was best choice

@thequestionmark
do you remember what answer choice A) said, or what the general vibe was?

The literal definition of charisma is actually - a personal magic of leadership arousing special popular loyalty or enthusiasm for a public figure.

Hedonistic means pursuit of or devotion to pleasure, especially to the pleasures of the senses.

Btw, how much do you guys think -3 would be for this curve?

@thequestionmark
was the choice with acceptance e?

yeah that one was really confusing. i forgot what i put. i think i put the same thing as you…

Empirical anyone?

I said respectful for Carson.

Rachel Carson was respectful.

marjerina: someone posted past curves broken down by test difficulty. For the medium and hard ones, -3 was an 800. Let’s cross our fingers that it remains that way. :)

yea I got empirical for one of the questions

Confirmed on empirical and respectful…update the consolidated with all the new answers guys…
