June 2016 Physics Regents Discussion Thread

So, how was the test for everyone today? I thought the multiple choice was rather difficult but the free response was fair. If anyone can find the answers anywhere and share them here that’d be amazing.

Everyone I know thought the same thing – mc was difficult but short answers were fair. I put in all of my answers in my calculator and here they are: (they are definitely not all correct I know I got at least 10 wrong in total so far)

MC: 12414424433232343341334111413224334234323211414321
Short answer:
51-52: 5N

53: 25N
54-55: 1.92Hz
56-57: 0.978m
58: trial B took less time
59-60: 14m/s
61: East
62: acceleration
63-64: 12m
65: 3m/s^2
66: 0.4km
67: vector resultant drawing
68: 2.4km
69: 55 degrees
70-71: 171 N/m
72-73: 0.419J
74: internal energy
76-77: 0.5 A
78: 0.1A
79-80: 120 ohms
81: 1.89eV
82: 3.02 * 10^-19
83-84: 4.56 * 10^-14
85: red

Okay so I got #1 wrong for MC definitely cuz I put power as the vector instead of weight as the vector. I also got #53 wrong – I believe the force of friction should be 10N??
Some questions I was unsure of were:

-The cart/horse one it was like #3 and it said that the cart accelerated west a certain amount and asked what was the force that the cart exerted onto the horse – I chose 110 N but I’m unsure;
-The question about the momentum before and after – the objects with momentums of 2 and 3 and they asked for the momentum after which I know is the same as momentum before but is the momentum equal to 1?
-The question with the diffraction diagrams – was the largest diffraction the one with the small opening but larger wavelength?
-for short answer, the trial A and trial B question – were the time values the same for both trials??

I had a generally easy time with the test. I studied to get a 100, but I got a really easy MC wrong due to overthinking. Hopefully I get a 99.
58. Trial B takes the same amount of time. (due to universal gravitation constant.)
69. Pretty sure its 35 degrees…
74. I put gravitational potential energy, but I’m sure that internal energy works, as well.
79-80 is just 20 ohms lol.
Pretty sure Ff was 10N in the first free response too, but I can’t recall.

The horse and cart was 55N or whatever the horse exerted on the cart because equal opposite reaction. You didn’t have to use anything about momentum, that was just a trick.

I really thought i got 90+…I got a 77 though, which was the fourth highest in my class…the highest only being an 86. I think the teacher is mostly to blame though.

about the horse/cart question, why was it 60N? sinc3e the card is accelerating there has to be an unbalanced force* which would make the answer 10N, right??

I actually ended up getting a 95. And not sure anymore, that may have been a question that I got wrong. I wish I could’ve gotten a 99.

*Yeah, just looked at the question on JMAP. I have no idea what I was thinking.
