June 4 2011 SAT Reasoning Post-Test Discussion

Noloserhere, it was 1.6. I don’t remember how I did it, but it was 1.6.

What do you guys think -1 math will be?

here’s how i did the pen one:

average of 1.4 pens -> assumed 10 kids, so 14 pens total

then i just found numbers that would fit the scenario, which gave 16 pencils

16/10 = 1.6

highest max was the one that had -(x+2)^2 +(-2)^2

@prettyawesome27 i think i picked a for that question but i don’t remember what that was.

fidel, are you sure about max value one?

@fidel, I also got that for the maximum value. :)

oh hahah nevermind don’t trust me on that one. i think i got that wrong… :(

yeah because all the other options subtracted from the max (instead of adding 2 they subtracted stuff cuz of the odd exponent) . the max of x^2+2 is 2 but for -(x+2)^2+4, its 4. (plug in 0 and -2 respectively). You could even graph them on the calculator.

there goes my 800

dammit that makes 2 wrong so far (max value and subset one) i’m going to leave now before i get any more discouraged lol

A disagreement? TIME FOR AN ULTIMATE MATH SHOWDOWN!!!

Where’s the disagreement? And also, for the CR Curve, do you guys think it’ll be harsh or generous? I thought it was harder than the March CR, and the curve for that one was a -3=740…

no im right it was the one that added -2 squared. Was anyone else pleasantly surprised by the writing section? The essay was fairly easy and the grammar was amazingly easy.

Never mind. Herrothere withdrew his disagreement and replaced it with the word for feces that rhymes with pit.

for the highest max value it was A. I graphed them all on my calc

for the max value what choice number was that?

@ fidelgato: I agree, and it was ironic because I scored an 800 on my writing the first time I took it in March, so I just breezed through this one.

I had a math experimental…can anyone confirm that the question about the x-axis reflection was an experimental section? I was an idiot and did a y-axis reflection I think.

Grapple, answer A for that question was -X^2 + 4. I picked it as well.
