June SAT Biology E/M Pre/Post Test

@education od

LOL.

What do you guys think the curve is going to be like this year?

I honestly thought it was harder than practice tests, when most people say the test is usually easier than the practice, so… easier curve?

@classicgrill and others…
The answer to the question about flea/insects on the large animal (I believe it was a rhinocerous or whatever) and the birds eating the fleas, is most definitely MUTUALISM.
I was also tempted to put down commensalism;however, if you read closely, it was stated that the insects were parasitic, meaning that they were harmful to the large animal. Commensalism would only work if the fleas didn’t harm the cow (as you stated in your link).

Well I’m going to predict low… so I’ll feel much better if I did better…
skipped 3, missed 5
730-750

innrcitypressure: there were two, there was a rhino and a cow. one was parasitic, the other could care less about the bugs on him.

^ no @InnrCityPressure, it was commensalism. The animal was a cow and the bird eating the flies was an egret, the same specific example was given in the Cliff’s notes AP Bio book under ‘commensalism’.

Really? I thought there was one.

Anyway, was the answer to the question about the albino/white plant connected to a green plant, eating its food parasitism? I was debating upon whether the answer was that or predation, but I chose parasitism because it didn’t state that the green plant died.

^That was in PR…i don;t remember it on yesterday’s test

^haha I think that’s what I put!! I forgot about that one~~ there was another one associated with those plants wasn’t there?

Should I cancel if I skipped 7 and got 5 wrong?

do colleges see if you retake the sat II?

btw, the one with the egret eating the cow is commenalism…
[Commensalism - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia](Commensalism - Wikipedia)
look at the caption with the bird.

was the rhino one in the main 60 question section?
what did the rhino one specifically say?

Khuam17, I’m pretty sure the bird eating the parasites off of the cow’s skin was mutualism. I distinctly remember the passage saying “parasites” not just “flies” so it would have benefited the bird and the cow in that situation.

EDIT: hello810, I now remember that there were two different cases we’re talking about now. The first case was the bird helping the rhino by eating parasites so that was mutualism, while the second case was the egret following the cow which would be commensalism.

^ something like a bird eats ticks off a rhino…

^and Apoc you’re talking about the Rhino one, the cow one was merely flies

how many can you skip and get wrong to get a 730-740

Yeah, I realized that there were two different questions as seen in my edit above. I do remember that for the rhino it did mention the bird ate “parasites” off of the rhino’s skin so that should be mutualism since the bird gains food and the rhino loses parasites. The second one with the cow is commensalism since the bird just eats random insects strewn about while the cow is moving.

EDIT: The rhino question was in the main 60 section.

let’s get a tally- who took e and who took m?

I’ll start:

m- /
e-

Took E

M: /
E: /
