June SAT II Chemistry Thread

an element is paramagnetic if it has unpaired outer electrons (usually applies only to transition metals) for example Cr is highly paramagnetic because it has 5 unpaired electrons in the 3d orbital… On the other hand, Zn or Cu is highly diamagnetic because all of their outer electrons are paired (10 d e-)

I just tried a Kaplan practice test and ended up getting 690 (ouch!). I’ll probably look over the topics that I ended up missing the most and go to sleep soon…

Hey guys, anyone here take the CD Model Test 1 on the barron’s book. I just took it and got a 800, should I stop studying?

I just got a 490 on the Official. Ouch.

I guess my game plan now is hope I get lucky, and omit as many questions as needed.

Lol maybe ur just stressing too much. And its night time and all so that could be why.

Anyways,

Good luck everyone! Lets pray for a decent curve and straightforward questions…

HOW DID EVERYONE DO? i think it was *ing easy guys. i ended up omitting like 3-4 questions and i wish we could get a calc cause their was one question with PV/T=PV/T which *ing ****ed me off. ended up saving it for last and was half way through the problem when time endedD:

that was pretty easy lol (i think). completely over prepped for it

can we discuss the questions now?

that wasn’t too bad at all. when’s embargo lifted? can we say the # of CE’s we got?

imo i thought it was pretty easy. all the calculations were basically reducable (sp?) to simple fractions

How many CE’s did you guys get?

there were 4 ces

the last one about co2 polar and linear
the one about NaOH dissociated into OH-
and two others

**** are u serious altamash? i am so stupid… seriously thought that co2 wasn’t linear so i did TF ><

Erm… I think I got 6 CEs…

this test was amazingly easy compared to practice tests
only -1 so far ! :stuck_out_tongue:
& yesssssss omg haha 4 TTCE’s whew
i think TTCE’s were hecka easy this test :stuck_out_tongue:
btw was the K + H2O OH- and H2??
and for the first 4 Qs buret and beaker was the only choice that wasnt used right?

^ correct :)

So…I decided to take this one on the spot b/c my ride was late, haha  How’s the curve on chemistry?

My CEs:
Linear CO2
Iron wire rusting
NaOH dissociation
one more that I am forgetting…

I did TF because it said CO2 was a linear polar bond…and it’s not, is it?

^It is. The C-O bond is polar since electronegativity of C isn’t the same as electronegativity of O. The bond’s weakly polar, but still polar.
