**June SAT U.S. History Post Test Discussion**

So for the quote about cultures, did we ever come to a consensus as to whether the answer was cultural pluralism or assimilation?

And I agree, I was pretty sure that the answer was Portugal because I think my class talked about this toward the beginning of the school year.

It was definitely assimilation; the speaker was urging immigrants to assimilate.

The 1920s economy question was like “All of the following contributed to prosperity in the 1920s EXCEPT…”

The answer had something to do with increased agricultural exports bringing wealth to farmers. American farmers generally did not prosper in the 1920s because of lowered demand from WWI levels and consequently lower prices for crops.

What was the answer to the Lowell picture question?

Correct, thanks for the clarification.

^ The consensus, which I agree with, is that it allowed both men and women to find jobs in the new factory system.

^ Are you sure? Why wasn’t it the choice that it advocated separate spheres?

I agree with the opportunities for both men and women because before that time, it was mostly men in the work force, but with the Lowell factories, women also started working. The separate spheres philosophy is with women staying at home and having influence morally and religiously, while the men work and provide for the family.

I agree with everything in the above post.

Dang, I’m not sure why I interpreted it as separation of the genders in factories. :(

For the Columbus question, is he wanted to find asia not to prove the world round right?
In the beginning the question about how the government was shaped in the colonies, was it the governor overshadowed the people, then lesser power or something like that.

I said he was looking to find a route to Asia by traveling west (northwest passage).

i said he thought he could reach the atlantic by going far enough west.

Yesss!! Thanx, was one of your answers The Jungle about the Meat Inspection ACT or something about the Progressive era.

for the lowell factory, what about restrictions on women? (only the man was working with the machine)

Did anybody get ‘Northwest Ordinance’ as one of their answers?

Sorry, I can’t remember the question…

no, I read in the REA Crash Course, the Lowell System was both for man and women concerning the textile industries!!!

Panmit2, yeah that’s what I put for the question about the relationship between progressives and legislation passed.

can we get a FULL consolidated please?

Was there a question about Henry Ford? I can’t remember.

I don’t think so, ACTTester.

Was one of the answers (it was an “except” question) the desegregation of the army during WWII?
