So my whole junior year I tried applying to a lot of internships/jobs. However, all of them them rejected me because my family’s income was a bit too high or because I did not have work experience. I’m trying to get into my dream colleges like UCLA, Berkeley, Stanford. I have plenty of community involvement/leadership/school activity/sports/4.60 GPA/2190 SAT etc. However, I am lacking an internship or job. Do I really need one?
At this point, an internship can’t really make or break your application. If you really want one, that’s fine, and I totally think you should go for it, but if you’re only looking to improve your resume for colleges, then I would say you shouldn’t do it, because you’re going to end up doing something you probably don’t entirely enjoy, and you’re also not really improving your chances by much (especially at top schools like the ones you mentioned). Based on the stats you gave and the wide variety of extracirriculars you mentioned, I’m gonna say you really don’t need to worry.
