I’d say you have an okay chance. Your SATs and GPA are a little on the lower side for UNC. If you could bring your gpa up to at least 3.5 and raise your M and CR by 50 points each I’d say your in (assuming you write good letters).

Take a look at the recent admissions threads to see who got in and who go rejected to give you an idea of what UNC is looking for.

Not if you apply for EA. If you apply for the second deadline, they will consider first semester grades. They do see your schedule though and consider its rigor.

I would just echo what Corey said. Get your both your UW/W GPA up, as well as your SAT score, combined will good essays will give you a chance. The good thing about UNC is that they don’t place everything on your scores, they get to know you as a person through your essays, so it’s not the end of the world if they aren’t awesome either.

Yeah, your GPA/class rank are going to hurt you. I’ve heard from my friends in NC that you need around top 10% to be competitive. That, combined with your test scores, makes UNC a reach for you. If you can get those scores up even 100 points, your chances would be much, much better. You’re male and an URM, so those could help you considerably if those scores improved. I’m guessing that your writing score isn’t so hot either, so do try to get that up too. UNC considers it as well, even if it’s not as stressed as the CR+M.

I was top 15% and got in EA, but that was because I screwed up my sophomore year, got straight As my junior year in all honors + 2 APs, and my senior year courseload is the most rigorous of any other student in my class. Try to get your rabk to at least the top 20%, top 15% to have a better chance.

That’s good. I’d go ahead and pick up the collegeboard blue SAT book and start studying. Have you tried the ACT? I really think you could make Carolina happen if you get those scores up and improve your class rank.

Title pretty much explains it all…
I have a really high GPA but SAT scores on the low side (2070 one sitting, 2080 superscored)
Do I have a chance?
Also, could you tell me what it’s like at the school if you’ve been there. ************** definitely has some mixed feelings. Are you really JUST A NUMBER there? I haven’t visited the campus yet but even so you can’t find that out by just visiting really.
EDIT: I thought I made a new thread >.< Sorry

In my opinion competitive schools like UNC see your numerics for qualifications and then they really look are extras. Honestly, i believe that out-of-state students are pressed more for their numbers than in-staters but the equation is the same. However, UNC is on the nicer side where they take into account your personality and the campus is HUGE! Their medical sector is freaking awesome since they are building new hospitals and everything. The transportation system is perfect too along with their journalism side. App. for UNC if your SATs are in the 2000-2400 range. Potential qualifiers are from these SAT ranges; unless you’re a recruited athlete >.<
