I have recently come to a problem with my class list for my junior year. I have been part of my school's music program since I was in seventh grade. I love it and is one of my classes. Because of this, I am limited to my classes. Because honors classes are rare and are scheduled at strange times, I cannot take all four. The class that I am not able to take is Honors Physics. My science class, instead, is Chemistry II. Would this be a hinderance or no?

BTW here is my full class list
-Honors Functions (Math)
-Honors English
-Honors American Issues
-Chemistry II
-AP US History
-Yearbook
-Band

in times past I would have said that band could help you out at the USNA....
but times-they-are-a-changing, and I am thinking more of the traditional academics will be of greater benefit at this point in time.

Having said that, you need to also balance out those academics with the other things you enjoy doing- like band. If that is who you are, then be true to that.

More importantly, just stay focused and to really well in the classes you have lined up. AP and honors courses are nothing to sneeze at....

Best of luck!

If you do well at all, keep tooting your tuba. Guaranteed ... Chem II vs. Honors Physics will not break the deal.

Hopefully, I'll be able to take Honors Physics senior year. I tried to convince my counselor to schedule Academic Physics in place of yearbook, but he said it was too much. I'll just take it next year. My band director better not give me any trouble this year, for all the stuff I had to give up. Not only Honors Physics.

I think perhaps your counselor fails to realize who's in charge in planning your schedule.

just a thought... any chance of taking physics junior year and chem in senior year? the reason is that chem would be "fresh" in your head in prep for chem at usna, which can be a "plebe killer".... you don't take physics until your second year (youngster year) at Navy....

just a thought....

I thought about that also. I guess I will have to save all of my notes and look over them during senior year. I was really mad when they said I couldn't take physics, but I really can't do anything. I actually have no idea what classes I should take senior year. I know I am going to end up taking a ton of AP courses, but I don't remember what is available at my school. What types of classes should I take senior year?

Here is an update...
I am trying to trade my Honors English for Honors Physics. Then, take Academic English, which would replace Yearbook. I thought about it and I want to take Honors Physics and I won't take no for an answer.

^^^^^
I always thought that Yearbook was an ECA not a class. It sounds like one of those basket weaving courses.

No, it's a class here. It was a total filler in my schedule and i have no desire to take it. Band is a class here also, not an ECA. They are our electives.

Don't sweat the small stuff. You can take Physics your Senior Year, no problem. Just make sure you DO take it, and do well. The Naval Academy will be checkng your transcripts well into the year to make sure you aren't getting "Senioritis" and slacking off. Doesn't sound like that will be a problem for you. Keep smiling.

Well, in order to take AP Physics Senior year, which is in the fall of senior year, I have to take a Physics class junior year. Hopefully, I won't have anymore problems with my counselor. I'll try to keep smiling through the frustration.
