You can compare your stats to the profiles at http://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/freshman/profiles/ .
@ucbalumnus I’ve already seen those, I just wanted a personal opinion. thanks anyways
@TooOld4School Oh really? is it very hard for OOS applicants to get in there? I thought my stats were pretty competitive even for OOS.
It is getting progressively harder to be admitted to Michigan, even with your excellent stats.
@TooOld4School Understandable thanks
Given your high ACT and reasonable GPA, UCB and UCLA should definitely be in the match category. However, what are your EC’s, as those could be deciding information.
I have sci oly, chem Olympiad, bio Olympiad, chief Co-Editor of a local newsletter, vocal music for 10+ years with many public performances, volunteering at a hospital (>120 hours), lab assistant in a chemistry lab, a possible internship this summer. @yummyGumballs
My EC’s aren’t the absolute strongest, but do you think they would be enough for UCSD, UCD, UCI, and UCSB, in combination with my GPA? (Those are my top 4 schools, biochem/molecular bio major.)
bump? chances w/ ECs + stats please?
bump?
I’d move UNC, Univ of Virginia, and the UC schools in on your Reach list to your Match list. You could then cut down the amount of match schools you apply to, or not, since many of them are UC schools that you’ll be applying to with one app (if I remember correctly and if the system hasn’t changed in the past few years).
Also, I’d keep Michigan on the Match list and not move it to Reach. OOS acceptance rate is around 20%, but with your stats I think you have a good enough chance to overcome that. Maybe like a “high match” or something like that then. Or maybe I’m overthinking it and you should just apply there if you’re interested and otherwise just keep a healthy amount of match and reach schools on your list.
Feel free to go for more match schools, too, since with all the state flagships taken off your Reach list there isn’t much there.
Also in my opinion you don’t need to bump if your post doesn’t get an answer every few hours.
