Junior PSAT takers: How much did you improve?

207 => 218.

gosh. is it just me, or the curves this year are really mean?
i missed one math question and got 5 points taken off.
imagine... that one math question is the diff between 218 and 223. sigh

from 191 sophomore year...
to 223 junior year! ;-)
32 points. by the time i took it, i was having dreams about being drowned in a pool of answer sheets.

when i found out, i collapsed in class. in front of everyone. they thought i was psycho.

i went up 11 points... 208-->219

I went up from 199 to 216. My CR changed the most..I think it's because I actually read the articles this time =P

The kid next to me was allegedly trying to look at my paper (other people observed it, and of course I believe them). But I don't think I can do anything about it now, especially since it didn't occur to me he might have been trying to cheat, even when he knocked our flimsy little divider-plank over toward the end of the writing section...

GA

The worst part about it is that i JUST made NY's cut off from last year... If it goes up even a point.....

I am pretty mad after getting my scores back today:

Sophomore year - 201
Junior year - 199

soph: 166
Thsi year: 212
46 points that's cool.. when i took it last year.. i didn't have a clue wat psat was..

Sophomore: 183

Junior: 227 (+44pts; I increased my reading from 51 to 79)

I don't know what to say, it's like a dream. As a nonnative english speaker, the SAT and PSAT represented an uphill battle for me.

lol i like ur username ^
and congratrs

I went up 20 points. 209 to 229. I went up 10 points in reading and 5 in writing and math.

Well, I didn't take it sophomore year but I did take a practice test 3 days before the actual PSAT and my score went up from 203 on the practice test to 219.

sophomore score: 71CR, 80M, 71W (222)
junior score: 73CR, 80M, 69W (222)

i didn't do any special test prep or anything, and i guess it shows.

does anyone think that might not make the finalist cutoff in California? i heard last year it was 219 and rising.

20 point overall increase after taking one practice test this year (no prep before the test sophomore year)

CR: 69 >> 74
M: 73 >> 80
W: 72 >> 80

SI: 214 >> 234

198 - 209 .... 11 points

211 last year, 232 this year.
Math 73-80
Reading 79-80
Writing 59-72

Some general SAT prep books over the summer, and the practice test included with the packet.

I feel I performed better this year because I knew there was more at stake, so I made sure to look over each answer carefully.

Im a sophomore, so I can't reply, but I know a junior that went down 14 points!

I'm of the opinion that most test takers experience a big jump at some point in high school. It doesn't necessarily come between the soph & jr PSATs though. It may even come after the jr PSAT on the SAT.

My son had a ~38 point jump soph to jr year on the PSAT; my daughter had a 31 point jump from frosh to soph year. No special prep in either case, just going to class and paying attention.

189 -> 219

30 points.

is angered at self
Sophomore year: 225 (CR:80/M:76/W:69)
Junior year: 225 (CR:79/M:70/W:76)

I didn't do any studying, and I suppose it shows... However, I am a little creeped out by the complete switch in math and writing scores between the two years. Also, both years I missed just one question in reading, but I wound up with a lower score this year? sigh Curves like that are not fun.
