Junior SAT scores: do you send them?

Hi All! I'm sure this is answered somewhere but I just couldn't find it. My dd is taking her SAT I's for the 1st time for real in March (she took them back in 8th grade for John Hopkins)
She has been working on narrowing down her college list and there are a few schools that she is certain that she will apply to. Is it appropriate to send spring junior year scores and take advantage of the four "free" score reports before she even starts applying?

TIA!

You really need to send them if you know what college you are applying to. I dont think you need to do it junior year.

I think that with College Board's new Score Choice Policy, depending on what the scores are, it might not be the best thing to do. It might be better to just send your highest set of scores, despite the four free sendings on CB.

^really?? If I send them now would they be in the school's records? Could I just omit it later on in senior year when I'm doing apps?

^
Good question. I don't know the answer, and I'm not exactly sure how ot find out, but if they don't keep them in their records, then all the more reason not to bother sending your scores. I would just not risk it. Is there some reason that I am missing that you should send the scores besides the fact that CB offers 4 free sends? Does it show that you are interested in the college?

Rob, my d is taking the reasoning test in March as well. I've asked here and on another forum for homeschoolers, and the overwhelming consensus recommendation was to wait. I do think most schools would hold onto them in a "suspend" file of some sort, until an application is filed that can be matched to the scores.

The one exception is if she's done with all SAT's (including subjects) and you feel very confident that she'll be "one and done" - thus not offering another opportunity to send the scores with the College Board's "free" sends.

Thanks all. This will be the first time she's taking them and unless she has a bad day, and the scores are out of line with her PSAT's, she probably won't take them a second time. As for SAT II's, she's in the process of weeding out her college "master list" and checking to see who needs SAT II's. So she may or may not take any come May.

The $9.50 per test score won't kill us in the long run; I just wasn't sure of protocol. I left the spaces blank, and figured I could fill them in closer to test time if she needed to. These poor oldest kids...we sure have to learn the hard way for everything with them, don't we ;)?

Let me tell you about the College Board. My S took the SAT in December, and his admissions tkt arrived with 2 weird colleges on it--not what we requested at all! So I filled in the correction form and mailed it immediately. CB says they have no record of it!

We are going back and forth by email--they keep giving helpful suggestions as to how I can have the scores sent....for $9.50 each! His scores are extremely good and he is not retaking.

My point is, take advantage of the free sends when you can, because there is no telling what the CB will do with your scores.

I'm extremely annoyed.

Anyone else having problems?
