What schools are you guys using for your 4 free score recipients??? I'm a junior and just took the March SAT. Has anyone sent scores in their junior year?? Do the colleges that you have your scores sent to respond at all??? I'm not really sure if they even would look at someone's SATs who hasn't even applied yet, but i figured it shows interest so it would be a positive...

I would like to know too. If I send in my June SAT II's prior to even applying in the fall, do I have to resend them. Do they keep them on their records?

I put down CalTech, MIT, UChicago, and Harvey Mudd College... and I'm a junior. I took the March 10th as well, and I didn't know you could choose who to send it to afterward (I don't know every facet of the college admissions process like everyone else on here seems to...). Obviously, I won't know the answer to some of your questions for a month or two.

But if you can send four free scores, you might as well.

I am a junior and I took the Jan. SAT. I didn't send my scores to any schools because there really weren't any places I was sure I'd apply. At the time, I also thought that sending scores like that was only for seniors who wanted to send scores to colleges they've already applied to.

I'm still kinda confused about sending scores, lol.

If you send the scores as a junior, the college will either set up a file for you or put your scores in a general file that they'll go through when they get your application. If you send your scores as a senior, same thing - often the scores get to the schools before the application.

Well if you retake the SAT's you will probably want to send your new scores also, so your first 4/8/12/whatever free choices are of no use..don't bother bout em.(first 16 in my case, with 5 SAT's in total taken)

Put down four schools you think you might be interested in. I say this because there are lots of threads that are "how do I show interest?" after students apply. One way you show interest is if you sent your scores your junior year. Shows the school you have been thinking about that school for a while.

Technically you can send to different schools with less money. For example, my daughter finishes her SAT I in March, which she forgot to fill out the 4 free schools, but she is taking Sat II Bio in May and she can put 4 free schools and they still send the SAT I that she took in March to the 4 free schools. In June she is taking Sat II Math, she can put 4 more different schools. In October, if she takes Sat II Literature, she can put 4 other different schools as long as in the end each school gets at least the required number of SAT IIs(like 2 for UCs). She intentionally wants to spread out her SAT II schedule because she needs to focus studying for one test at a time. You don't have to fill out the same 4 schools everytime you take the test.

Sending scores early will definitely show interest, but will not get colleges to start recruiting you unless your a URM or some other special interest group.
