Junior Schedule Help

Hey everyone,
I am a rising junior and I would appreciate some help with constructing my schedule. I currently take two APs (Comp Sci Principles, and Calc AB).

Junior Schedule
AP Calc BC
AP Lang
US History
Spanish 4
Physics
AP Psychology
AP Seminar (Required Class)
Study Hall (Required)

As I have an interest in science and hope to major in a science field, I was wondering if I should replace AP Psych with an elective and take AP Physics 1 instead. However, the Physics department at my school is not the best and many kids end up failing the exam. I also hope to take AP Bio my senior year (which I could not take in my sophomore year due to restrictions by the school).

In addition, if anyone has any experience with AP Capstone, I would like to know the workload of that class. Beginning next year, our school is requiring us to take AP Seminar and AP Research as apart of our thesis program.

Thanks!

Yes, since you want to major in a STEM field, it would make sense to take AP Physics 1 (just don’t take the exam).

My interest in science is more towards bio/chem. Would AP physics be seen as straying away from that?
Also my school requires taking the exam if you take an AP course.

No. Top colleges will expect to see a year each of bio/chem/physics. Tippy top colleges will want that plus an advanced course in one of them; it’s fine.

Well, that answers that question, then. Take the exam.

Then, don’t fail the exam. But be aware that overall, 60% of test takers fail this exam.

As mentioned above, it would make more sense to take the AP science instead of psych if you’re planning on going into STEM.

Also, is there any reason you’re taking BC instead of another AP math like stats or cs? BC is basically AB with a few additional chapters so it may be redundant to take next year.

Thanks for the advice! I think I will take AP Physics 1.

As for BC, guidance recommended that I take it after AB. If anything, it will give me a firmer grasp on the content. I still have senior year to take another math class, maybe something at the local college.

@kkayli27: some schools have a sequence with AB-BC over 2 years.
