Hi,
Although I have yet to hear from Northwestern (and am expecting a rejection) I can’t decide which school I would go to if I do get accepted to Northwestern. I feel the need to think about it now because the transfer deposits are not far away. I am planning on majoring in economics.
What I am primarily concerned with is fitting in at these schools as a junior transfer.
If anyone has any experience with transfer students at either of these schools, or any other input pertaining to transfer students especially, that would be very much appreciated.

Congrats on Vandy! I applied to Northwestern as a transfer too (but for sophomore year) so I completely empathize with the agonizing wait for decisions!
I’m not sure how much merit this has, but I’ve heard from a couple sources that because Vanderbilt accepts more students as transfers than as freshmen, the students at Vanderbilt kind of hold them to a lesser regard. I don’t think this is a reason not to go, but just something to think about when considering fit! On the other hand, because Vanderbilt accepts more transfers than Northwestern, it might be more comfortable and easier to transition into student life as a transfer at Vandy!
Sorry I don’t have a black and white answer, but these are just some things I would consider Best of luck in your decision and my fingers are crossed for Northwestern to accept you!
Vanderbilt > Northwestern to me – do you like the frigid cold or a balmy, friendly southern city on the rise. Prestige is pretty similar for these two on the coasts, obvious regional preferences to Vandy in the south and NW in the midwest. Basically where would you prefer to have a stronger regional network recognizing that both are considered great schools in both CA and the NE
Chicago is a world class city whereas Nashville is just Nashville. Northwestern has the edge in reputation in most places due to its noticeably stronger grad programs across most fields. Today, the Brits all know Northwestern.
