Hey guys I was wondering if you guys think I will have a shot at an acceptance for Fall 2015 to USC Marshall Pre-Accounting. Thank you for taking the time to read this!
Community College GPA: 3.59
USC Transferable GPA: 3.73
Units Completed: 59 (CC) / 48 (USC Transferable)
Units in Progress: 16 (CC) / 13 (USC Transferable)
Pre Reqs Completed: Business Calc, 2nd Semester English Honors, Financial and Managerial Accounting (Received A’s in all)
GEs Completed: Missing one of them after spring
Job: Worked (now currently manage) at my family’s pizzeria since freshman year of high school and a tutoring job at my college my third year (this year)
ECs: Secretary of Volunteer club in high school
Letters of Recommendation: 1 from my accounting professor (maybe one from my biology and/or calc professor too)
Comments: I have two Ws one from a philosophy class over the summer and one was last spring in pre-calculus. I also went below 12 units when I dropped pre calc (and received the W) and I had 10 units the semester before, but I am explaining that it was incredibly difficult to get classes because I wasn’t in the honors program at that time and didn’t get priority registration.
Also along with my stats would these be good excuses for getting W’s? I got one in Spring of 2015 in Pre-Calc and one in philosophy summer of 2015. I got an A in business Calc so it’s obvious I can do math.
Excuse for Pre Calc: Barely passed trigonometry (got a C) and had trouble grasping the concepts in pre calc. Spent countless hours receiving tutoring and attempting to learn the material. Although I was passing, I felt I should withdraw because I needed to understand the concepts more in order to be successful in calculus. I determined it was in my best interest to retake the class in order to be able to learn the material. I didn’t end up retaking the class because a counselor informed me of a different route to take business calculus and felt it would be a better fit for me.
Excuse for Philosophy: I was taking college algebra (a pre req for business calc) and philosophy in the second summer session. A few people quit at my families pizza place that I am one of the managers at and I had to help them out and pick up many more hours. I was also led to believe that I needed that class as a pre req for some schools and was wrong so I didn’t need it. I decided it was in my best interest to withdraw from philosophy because I didn’t need it and couldn’t put the effort in needed to learning the material with the extra hours I spent at work and on my college algebra class.
Actually I’m missing two GE courses not 1
