I'm beginning to feel like I missed the boat on the whole act thing..almost everyone I know took it in february, and I haven't taken it yet. However I AM taking it twice in april...once through my school (mandated) and once through the actual act process. How many more times should I take it? Should I be worried that I haven't taken it yet? I am naturally very good at taking standardized tests and have been studying a bit, but I really don't know what to think...

Most high schoolers take the act during the summer of junior year or during senior year. You are not that late if you do bad in April you could study during the summer so do not stress about it too much.

^You mean the spring of junior year? ACT doesn’t offer testing during the summer.

If you’re taking the test soon, then why are you worrying?

There is the one in June - which can be considered during the summer.

I’m worried because I have friends who have already taken it 3 times, and I’m worried in case I do bad. More accurately, I guess I’m just worried because I’m a junior and its seriously time to start doing stuff for college…!!

Think about what you’re asking for here. All you can really do is take the test at the next possible date: April. If you don’t know what to think, then realize that you can’t go back in time and spring of grade 11 certainly isn’t too late. You have until fall of 2011 to get it done. I’d suggest taking it once in April or June, and once at the start of next year…like I am.

There are 4 or 5 more act test in 2011 so do not stress much. But if I were you I would take a timed practice test so that you can start studding for the one in April.

I agree with AMZ1AMZ. What’s done is done, so you can just focus on the next test date. You’ve missed the April test signup, so your next chance is June. Think of it this way . . . now you’ve bought yourself a little more time to prepare, so take advantage of it and don’t waste the time. If you’re a good test taker, maybe you won’t need to take the test as many times as your friends, which makes the entire process less stressful. Then you can retake in September or October and still make the ED deadline for most schools.

Don’t worry about it. The latest you can go is October 2011, but seriously don’t do that…I took the ACT my first time in June, second time in September [studied my butt off during the summer and got my highest score in September] and attempted to go higher in October.

you sound JUST like me when i was a junior! I didn’t take my first ACT until the state-wide administration, and I felt so behind. Even though I’m really good at standardized tests, it totally freaked me out that everyone had already taken an ACT. But I took that one and received a 34, with a 28 on science dragging my score down. I did one science practice in a testing book, and gave it a second shot in the fall of my junior year. I scored a 35 on that one with a 36 in science. Don’t worry that you’ve missed the boat. You can do just what I did- take it with the state, assess your mistakes, then re-take in the fall after you have the feel of the test from that first time.
Good luck! and junior year does end eventually :)

Don’t worry about it, you still have plenty of time. I had waited to take my act until june so I could get more study time, and it payed off in the long run. Quality over quantity! There are a couple free practice tests online: I highly recommend them, raised my score to a 35 (: good luck!

^what websites did you use?

I haven’t had much success with online prep, either because the questions aren’t fair or they’re a lot different from the real test. I would recommend getting an actual book. You could even go to a local library and check one out to work on. Just be sure not to mark in it.

Omg omg omg I 36ed first try!!! Flipping out right now
