I am a junior at a small high school in central Illinois. My school is very small so they do not offer AP or honors classes and the closest thing they have to that is dual credit classes through the local community college. I plan to take all of the dual credit classes and my GPA as of right now is a 3.9 UW and my school does not weight GPAs so that is all I have. I participate in a lot of activities including youth group, big brothers big sisters, student council, softball, cheer, scholastic bowl, and yearbook. I also expect to be a member of NHS. My class is only 31 students so class rank doesn’t really mean much. My leadership positions include student council and I am the captain of the Varsity softball team (I have been varsity since my freshman year). I also paged for a local Illinois senator and I plan on going to girls state. As of right now I am trying to get a list of colleges together. I really want to go to either Northwestern or George Washington University but I am worried that neither of these are feasible options considering my lack of APs. I also do not have my PSAT or SAT score yet so I can’t include that information in this post. What colleges should I consider and do you think my goal of Northwestern is not possible. If I apply to Northwestern I plan to apply ED by the way.
Definitely ED. Diff between RD and ED is insane. Does your school not offer APs? If it doesn’t, won’t be held against you. If it does, then you should aim for very high test scores (34-36) and very good ECs. Good luck.
My school does not offer APs but I am considering self studying for a couple of APs to try and bulk up my application in any way I can. Do you have any other tips?
