Junior year schedule (high school)

I agree that your senior year sounds intense. At our HS it’s suggested that each AP courses will require an average of one hour of homework a night. Of course that could mean that some nights it would be two hours and another none. Four AP’s = 4 hours of homework a night (especially Euro and Gov) will suck all of your time and leave you little time for a life.

I’m not trying to be too parental here, but if you were my kid, I would suggest that you give yourself some time to enjoy HS and not focus so much on what looks good to Colleges.

The thing is senior year is the only year i can take more then one AP. I can only take AP US next year. I don’t have room if I want to take journalism, I would like to be a future journalist. I’d prob only take 3 AP classes senior year and graduate with 6 AP classes. AP World usually takes me about an hour each night when we have reading.

OR

Should I just take dual enrollment my junior and senior year. My sch if I did this:

Junior-
Honors Physics
CP Pre Cal
French 2
everything else at local college

Senior-
AP Biology
French III
CP Calculus
everything else at local college

I figured I would take my best subjects at the college. I could have 3 AP classes the time I graduate and a lot more dual enrolment OR 6 AP classes? Would the college credit even transfer to schools like NYU, USC, and Northwestern? Also, the AP classes I picked for senior year are the ones I was intrested in and not because of the heck of it. I would never take a math related AP. I am also not sure about what classes I take at high school and at the local college. I’m going to ask my guidance counselor Monday. Also, I had a pretty bad freshman year and I really need to take the sch which will help my GPA but be semi rigorous as well.

Journalism at High school might be fun, but for a journalism major, some serious English and History courses are probably better preparation. And fewer and fewer colleges accept AP credits-- I doubt NYU etc. would. Still I’d do AP English both jr and sr, because it’s the most rigorous and will show your seriousness. And I would definitely not take 4 aps senior year!

I cannot take AP English my junior year. You had to apply to go on the track and I didn’t get in. My teacher said they only let gifted kids in.

What do you guys think about the dual enrollment?

AP Physics B
Journalism (Newspaper)
AP US History
Honors French II
Int Algerba II
Honors Language Arts

I decided I’ll be taking the following my senior year:
AP Psychology
CP Math (don’t know what math yet, maybe Pre Cal)
AP Environmental Science
AP Literature and Composition
Journalism
Honors French III

(I’m taking honors economics/government online)
