I'm not exactly sure where this thread belongs, so I'm just going to put it here.

Here is my current junior year schedule:
AP Chemistry
Jazz Ensemble
AP Psychology
AP Language and Composition
AP U. S. History
Pre-Calculus
Spanish IV

Everything is weighted except for Jazz Ensemble. I'm very interested in AP European History, but they're both the same time every year. Plus, taking AP Euro would boost my GPA a little bit. I'm just worried that would be too difficult a schedule, as I would already be taking 4 AP's and 2 Honors courses. Taking AP Euro would make it 5 AP's. Honestly, I don't even enjoy Jazz Ensemble. I only do band because my father wants me to do it. Also, I've been in Jazz Ensemble both my freshman and sophomore year. Would quitting it look bad since it's kind of an activity? I am also in the Marching Band and Symphonic Band, though. Also, taking Euro would mean that I'd be in three AP histories that year, even though I don't see how AP Psychology is really and AP history...

Another option would be to take AP Euro my senior year. Currently my senior year schedule looks like this:
AP Physics (B)
Jazz Ensemble
Service Learning*
AP Spanish Language
AP English Literature
AP Government
AP Calculus AB

*Service Learning is basically a study hall that you get service hours for.

I could take AP Euro in place of either Jazz Ensemble or Service Learning. Service Learning would be nice having all of those courses so that I could study. And 6 AP's senior year would be pretty difficult since I'll also be doing college stuff.

When should I take AP European History? Or should I just forget it?

All responses would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance! (:

Forget jazz ensemble. If your passion is history take three histories. I love history as well and for me reading my APUSH book is like reading a novel. If you feel the same way those 5 APs should be a breeze. Too bad my school doesn’t offer AP Euro.

Avatarmage – It’s not that I’m necessarily passionate about history, I just really like European history for some reason. Plus I love the teacher. She was my teacher for AP World in freshman year and it was the best class ever. (: Well it’s not that it’s five AP’s. It’s that it’s five AP’s and two Honors. Like I don’t think we have anyone at my school who has a completely academic schedule. And with that, you still think I should take it instead of Jazz Ensemble in my junior year?

Sickbro – Yes, I have some extracurriculars. I’m president of Young Democrats, secretary of Spanish National Honor Society, secretary of Raze, member of KEY Club, Marching Band, Symphonic Band, All State Band, FCCLA, the tennis team, the golf team, Academic Team, and I’m doing National Honor Society next year.

Avatarmage – Although I’m not necessarily passionate about history, like I said I do like European history. And I love psychology. My career choice is going to be in either the field of law or the field of psychology. I would still end up taking AP U. S. History, though, because I’m just sort of expected to. I just wanted to explain how I may end up taking three AP histories even though I’m not very passionate about history.

Ah if you’re not passionate about history I can’t guarantee it’s a good idea. I’d say take jazz ensemble then but if you’re up to it take AP Euro. It’ll be hard but it’s doable. You may be the first at your school but people at other schools have far more rigorous schedules. You’ll shine like a star from your school when you’re applying.

I’m sorry for having you post about this, but I went into scheduling today and they told me that they don’t even let juniors take more than three AP’s. I barely convinced them to let me take a fourth – AP Psychology. So AP European History is not going to happen. Thank you anyway.
