I am planning on taking 4 APs, (English, U.S , Spanish, Art history) plus pre-cal and choir. I wasn't really worried too much until I found most people I talked to said they were taking 3 or less. Even my counselor was worried for me. I just really want to get into a UC or Stanford type of school and maybe major in business. Is this too much?

I’m a junior right now and my school is pretty similar – I’m taking two (AP Lang & Comp and APUSH) and I can only think of one junior that’s taking three. If you honestly feel like you can handle four APs, by all means, go for it, but I don’t think taking three is going to hurt your chances, especially if you have ECs to balance. I have a lot of homework plus theatre five days a week, and it takes its toll. It also sorta depends on how hard these classes are at your school. Everyone takes the same test, sure, but for example, the AP Calc at my school is brutal whereas depending on the teacher, the class might not be so bad elsewhere. If you do decide to take fewer APs, take the ones that you want to take the most/are the most passionate about. Good luck!
