Junior Year Schedule

Next year I'm taking
AP Latin
AP USH
Hon Pre Calc
Hon Physics
Hon Greek I
English (my school only offers regular English but makes everyone take one of the AP exams their junior year)
Is this a good schedule? Should I take APES instead of Physics and then try and take AP Physics 1 next year?

Depends on what you’re aiming for, but in itself it’s a really good schedule! I think you should take Physics instead of APES because it’s generally viewed as more rigorous, even if just an honors class. If you’re really worried about it you could go ahead and just self-study APES without too much trouble, I think. Three APs out of six classes is still solid, especially if those are ones you’re really interested in!

Thanks!

For Junior schedule, I would suggest the following considerations:

Can get you good GPA (either maintain a high level or demonstrate an upward trend). Don’t overwhelm yourself and suffer in GPA.

Aim for sufficient AP classes that will get you certain level of AP scholar by the time of college application. It is not really a plus if you are an AP scholar, it is a slight negative when you don’t have one.

Take relevant AP and Honors classes that you may take SAT2 subject tests on them at the end of Junior year. Consider those subjects you may need for specific programs or schools.

Make sure you are on the track to comply with graduation and college application requirement. Check the number courses in each core and the level of foreign language you may complete.

Also: DO NOT take AP classes if you’re not sure you’ll get a B or higher in them. Better take Honors and get an A, than AP and get a C. If you’re not sure, ask your current teachers. If they think you can handle 3 APs plus the 3 honors classes you have scheduled, you’re good to go! :)

Thanks I think I’m going to stick with my schedule.

It looks fine if it complies with what I said above. Have a great Summer!

Would Honors Physics really be considered harder than APES?

yes
