Junior Year Schedule

Hi! Within the next couple weeks, I will be enrolling in classes for my junior year of high school. As of now, the schedule I was thinking of is:

-AP Calculus AB
-AP English Lang/Comp
-AP Physics 1
-Honors Engineering (Weighted)
-Spanish 3H (Weighted)
-Orchestra

Over the summer, I am planning on taking US history as a “go-ahead” to fit engineering into my schedule. Would this be a good idea, and would my current schedule look like I challenged myself to competitive colleges like UCLA, USC and UPenn? Should I take APUSH instead of engineering? I don’t want to overload myself, especially while taking 3 core AP classes, but I don’t want to look weak to colleges either.

This seems manageable! Your schedule is very well balanced. To decide between engineering and APUSH, you need to know what you want to do in the future. If you want to major in STEM, engineering may be a good introduction to what engineering is if you’re considering majoring in that. If you want to major in humanities, then APUSH would be a good fit for you. I decided not to take APUSH even though I could so that I could focus on my other STEM courses (AP Physics 1 and 2, APCSA, Pre-Calc Honors).
