I want to become a chemical engineer and my dream school is M.I.T. I know junior year is the year where you want to make the most out of the classes you take. But my school has classes that we have to take in order to graduate.

AP Physics I
AP English III

Is this too many ap classes? Football practice ends at around 5:30. I don’t want to be too overwhelmed. I know I can handle challenging classes. I’m currently 6th in my class? What recommend classes should I take junior year for my career path and college?
For engineering, you would not have to take AP USH…can you take another history?
Also, do you have to take Chem and Physics at the same time? Make sure you take Bio, CHem, Physics and at least one ap version of those…but it would be tough to do both at the same time. If you do, don’t take APUSH.
I don’t have to take APUSH but we have to have a class for each core subject (English, science, math, s.s) for all 4 years. I might as well take it for the extra quality points added to my GPA. I have to take physic 1 to take physics c senior year. I don’t think I have room for Ap. Bio.
I understand why you’re taking APUSH. I’m currently a sophomore in that class that also wants to be a chemical engineer even though I absolutely hate history. Yes, I hate it, but I’m second in the class and I don’t want to lose my spot. Besides, taking AP classes in subjects you don’t intend on majoring in may help knock off some Gen-Ed requirements. So, keep that.
I really wouldn’t take AP Chem and AP Physics 1 concurrently. AP Chem is brutal and a lot of work, and while I haven’t taken AP Physics 1 yet, I can imagine it is the same. I barely have enough time with it for cheerleading, which I know doesn’t have as grueling of a schedule as football. Drop one of those. In my opinion, keep AP Chem and take AP Physics 1 instead of C senior year. You’re more interested in chemical engineering than mechanical, for example, and thus I think AP Chem would be more beneficial than AP Physics C. Maybe replace Physics 1 junior year with Latin III, since many colleges prefer seeing 3-4 years of a language.
I’m glad someone understands the GPA situation. My counselor was the one that told me that I had to take AP Physics 1 junior year to take c since I want to be a chemical engineer and it looks good. I don’t want to take 2 ap science classes in one year. I’ll talk to the AP Chem teacher and AP Physic Teacher about what is for the best.
