Hello CC-ers, would love some input on my junior year schedule:
AP English
AP US History (currently taking Honors World - will it be too much of a jump?)
AP Bio
Honors Pre-Cal
German III
Chamber Orchesta
I’ve heard APUSH + AP Bio is a killer combo. Should I go for it, or should not overwhelm myself? I’m more of an English person, so should which should I consider dropping? Which has more “value”/“importance” to colleges?
Is it better to take multiple APs and get B average grades, or to take like one AP and get an A?
Thanks in advance, friends!
Honors World --> APUSH will probably have a major jump in reading, depending on your Honors World class.
I’m taking APUSH and AP Bio as a junior next year as well.
If you really feel like dropping one then you should stick with APUSH considering the fact that you’re inclined toward English and there’s a lot of reading.
Value has many factors. Think about the kind of colleges you will be applying to and what you want to major in.
In my opinion, it’s okay to make Bs in AP as long as you end up making a 4 or 5 on the exams to show you demonstrated the material, though your guidance counselor will probably tell you that it’s better to make As with 1 AP.
Course rigor depends on people in your school; what’s the average amount of AP’s for your school? My school has 13-14 AP’s and the “average” junior takes 1-2, the top juniors take 3-4. It’s impossible to take more than that because of our core requirements.
The AP combo depends on how well you did in the regular class…a little bit. Regular Bio for me was super easy but everyone tells me AP Bio is one of the hardest AP classes! APUSH is also one of the hardest…but in a different way? Lots of writing, so if you’re an English person, you might do better in APUSH than Bio!
I’m a sophomore in both APUSH and AP Bio. It’s time consuming but manageable. I got an A- in APUSH first semester and a B+ in Bio. And it’s better to get B’s in AP classes than A’s in regular, so you’ll be fine
