<p>greenfield - You could always declare Bio/Chem as a minor. “In lieu of an Area Study, a student may choose to declare a minor in a department or an interdisciplinary program.” That way, you’d do less humanities/social sciences.</p>

<p>As far as rigor/difficulty goes, I’ve been told that it’s much harder to get a high gpa at UCSD compared to some other private schools (esp. in biological sciences) because of the # of people majoring in that & its competitiveness, is this true or just a myth?</p>

<p>The competitive environment is great. You’re propelled to higher levels of academic prowess… just catch the right wave (group of friends to compete against) and you’ll be surprised how much you will learn :D</p>
<p>But wouldn’t that and the grade deflation at UC(SD) result in a lower gpa?</p>
