I just looked and saw all the engineering chance threads so I thought I would post my stats as an admitted student. If you have any more questions about stats or extracurrics, just ask.

GPA: 3.776 unweighted
ACT:33 composite 34 math 33 english 33 reading 33 science
Class rank: top 10%
I am an IB Diploma candidate
Decent extracurriculars. No sports but 1 leadership position in a club and average volunteer work
SATII: 680 chem 710 math II
Essays: Decent but I found a few errors after I had submitted them
Recommendation: 1 very, very good letter 1 average letter

UIUC does not consider SAT II tests, nor do they consider recommendations. I am kind of jealous of the OP since I got deferred. Not entirely sure why though since my stats are pretty competitive for this school.

I have very similar stats as well. My GPA is the same, my class rank is 22/870 and my ACT scores are:
Composite: 33
Math: 36
Science: 35
Reading: 30
English: 31

And I also have a job which takes up 15-20 hours per week, along with 250 hours of community service (4 per week).

My course load is very rigorous too (Took 8 AP classes, along with all other possible honors academic classes), so I am not sure why I got deferred from Computer Engineering. Does anyone have any “chances” of me being accepted? It’s my top school and it hurt to see the deferment.

I’m starting to think that it was my poor essay (I even found a grammar mistake or two). Would that possibly sway my chances by much? I really wish I could go back in time and spend much more time on the essay.
