I have a problem. I am a bad test taker. On practice tests I would easily score 2100 to 2250 every time. However, for my March and June SAT. Both of my scores were significantly lower than what I can do. I only have one more chance left to take it (October). Does anyone know any tips to combat this poor test taking ability??

If you get nervous on test day, try getting a prescription for beta blockers. A friend of mine had a nervousness issue for exam days and his score increased 200 points with the appropriate treatment.

What are you getting on the real thing, depending on the discrepancy in scores, you might just be unlucky, or you might actually have an anxiety issue.

Hmm…

If you are nervous—it might have to do with sleep.

For me—I can get almost all questions correct in a relaxed setting, but come the actual test day, my nerves get the better of me and I make careless, really annoying errors.

Try taking something to get to sleep (but be careful to make sure that you can wake up).

On the real thing i got 1980 and 2010. It’s way off my original score. I think its the combination of both anxiety and lack of sleep because I couldn’t sleep the night before.

It’s the opposite for me, my score on the actual SAT are higher because it’s way easier for me to focus and read the passages correctly and avoid stupid math errors. I’ve been getting
1850~'s in the bluebook but I got 2030 on test day.

Also for the OP, it could be that the practice tests are scored easier than the real thing, just stay focused on the test and questions and use all of the time provided.

roro109 I think you are normal. Most people I know score better on the practice test vs. the real test. The pressure and a touch of anxiety makes you loose some focus. It is normal.
