Please include the Okefenokee!
Have already been there!!! It’s freaking great!!!
(ETA: But it’s not a national park, it’s a wildlife refuge)
Also!
The US Parks Service has already done this for me!!
Oh! I did not know it was not classified as a national park!! Obviously I never looked it up. Oops.
We are going to visit the Okefenokee Christmas light display over the holidays on my D’s request. She’s loved visiting there over the years with her grandparents… and now that my father has mobility issues, a drive-thru experience is something we can all enjoy together, while reminiscing the canoeing, kayaking, camping experiences in years past.
ETA: When I mentioned Okefenokee originally I was making a bit of a joke with your name… but now, even though it is not a national park, maybe someone on CC will check it out.
Before Dad’s health declined, they were on a mission to visit all national parks and all baseball parks. They have wonderful stories…including life-long friends met due to adjoining seats at final-four (basketball) games years ago. I love that about my parents!
There are 63 National Parks plus MANY more units in the National Park system that are categorized as National Monuments, Battlefields, Historic Places, etc.
17 for me and I don’t really consider myself a well traveled person. Some of these have been accidental.
I lived less than an hour from Niagara Falls for a couple years just in my 20’s and went there 5 times in a month once.
I think Mines of Spain should be added to the list, it is a beautiful spot. Take off Mall of America to make room.
20 I think, but some were when I was a kid. Not interested in some of the ones I missed but there are some I’d still like to get to.
I’m at 22 but think it’s a strange list too. I mean anyone who’s spent more than about 5 minutes in NYC probably went to the Statute of Liberty, Empire State & Central Park - so basically that’s a three-fer. Same with Washington Monument & the White House (assuming you just had to look through the fence at the WH for it to count). Pretty much the only one on my bucket list I haven’t been to is Yosemite.
Haha… Mall of America is one of my drive-bys (no interest in visiting)
31!!
Edit- make that 30. Saw the space needle but didn’t go up it. Does that count?
Yikes, I have 12. Clearly we need to get out more.
Maybe we all need our own list of 20 places we’ve been that reflect our lifechoices and ability
Hmmm, guess I’m not as well traveled as I thought, lol. Stretching the definition of “seen/visited”, I’m at 11. That number would indeed be higher if they’d included the Freedom Trail!
Frankly, I have no desire to visit quite a few of these. Never been to Las Vegas and intend to keep it that way.
Ha ha, I beat you!
Yikes 30/34, feeling lucky! I’ll just say we’ve done our share of ROAD TRIPS!
We live local to the MOA, my kids have performed there. That would be one place I’d never go. It is one of our closer shopping mall options and has all the stores. Let me tell you, won’t go anywhere near during tourist season.
- Seems we tend to start traveling more in the U.S.
24 here. Need to hit Yellowstone to be happy.
22 so far!
Yes, you should check out Yellowstone as it is spectacular!
I also hear people rave about Glacier Natl Park but I have not been there.
Made it to Glacier–and well worth the trip!
22 - which I thought was a fairly high number until I started reading these responses.
