about 20
I think 18
I’ve been to 28.
We did Highway to Hana once, and have avoided every since. I love waterfalls, but I don’t like traffic on windy roads so much.
22 for me.
Yellowstone is my happy place. Hit me up any time you want a trip guide
Understand that we drive 42 hours nonstop from eastern PA to get there and back, so we can squeeze as many days in there as possible. We don’t mind long drives. But that’s my outer limit.
I’ll make @greenbutton feel better because I only counted 11. I have been out of the country several times, but have only been west of Texas once when exH & I went to Las Vegas.
About 10 years ago, we’d take our kids to a new national park every year. It’s a great way to see the country… so many amazing places in this country.
I am at 26, and my husband is at 27.
Seventeen
and 42/50 states for that matter. That’s what i’m hoping to accomplish sometime!
We did the White House tour (the ones you could arrange through your US rep) many years ago when our son was about eight, I think. When we got to the Blue Room, son piped up that blue was his favorite color. The guide invited him under the ropes and had him sit on one of the couches in the room. The guide then kept referencing him, like “The portrait above the young man’s head” or “The table across from the young man.” Son was petrified but we were thrilled. Unfortunately no pictures allowed.
@Gatormama I love Yellowstone! I worked there a couple summers during graduate school. At the Old Faithful Inn , in the main gift shop , with lots of authentic , expensive Indian pottery, rugs, and jewelry. The shop overlooked Old Faithful and it went off pretty much like clockwork but was exciting every time! This was decades ago and I don’t think the shop is there anymore but it was a great experience. Got to ride the tourist bus all over the park for free on days off. Doubt I’ll ever get back but I remember it fondly.
I don’t live far from the Mines of Spain. Tell me about it, please?
Mines of Spain is a fairly big park area on a bluff overlooking the Mississippi River near Dubuque, Iowa. It was chartered by Spain and mined by Julian Dubuque, for whom Dubuque was named. It has a rich history that may be better explained by Wikipedia.
There are hiking trails and picnic areas, just a lot more tranquil than Mall of America sounds, though I’ve never been there.
I grew up along the Mississippi from a line of commercial fishers. I miss seeing the views of the river on a daily basis.
27 for me and a couple I’ve missed like Mall of America and South Beach I’ve no desire to ever go to.
We’ve been to 49/50 states (missing Alaska), so have seen quite a few others including most National Parks + other National Sites. Our focus is nature, but nature without things like South Beach. Even Waikiki (or Oahu itself) isn’t as favored by us as the beaches on Kauai or the Big Island, but we did enjoy the Pearl Harbor Memorial so Oahu was worth a stop.
I knew we’d have some high numbers here!!!
- Disney World 2008
- I need to go to more of TX and more of the PNW. Been to Spokane, but not Seattle, and been to Berkeley but not SF. That kind of thing. I’ve been to 49 states & PR. Still need to get to Alaska.
