My mom did the same thing. She handed me the phone and when I asked who it was, she was like, "I dunno." So I was like, "Hey, what's up?" and then I realized it was a college thing. DX I was so embarrassed. But I felt like I was on the spot. >_< Even if the person was probably close to my age. Made me so nervous.

Haha--you guys are funny. True though---very true. Sometimes i'm sleeping in or something, and a college calls. Well yeah, i've applied to these schools. They just ask randomly whether I need any assistance with anything. I find it strange to believe that they do this to every single one of their applicants.

I find it weird how random they call. I mean, I'd understand if maybe you had a question before or something, but randomly calling for no reason is kind of weird.

yea i got a call too. I wasnt home so it was left on my answering machine, it sounded like a young student. She told me to call if I had any questions etc... I hope this means probable acceptance. my SAT score is 2060.

Yeah riborn! Usually, they're young people. I hope this is a plus for us.

Did they say anything? Like that you're a super strong candidate or something?

I doubt SAT scores have anything to do with this, without taking away the thrill from having gotten such a call, I have heard these are random calls. No one can be sure of course and I think its encouraging nonetheless that they called. I don't think anyone called my son and he has a 2000 and did 700+ on each of his SAT 2's, so if its based on SAT's I think he would get a call too because with all due respect 1850 is not considered strong for BU, not anymore at least. I am sure though you are a great candidate and its true that the SAT'S are just a tiny fraction of what they consider. Good luck to you!!

Actually, when I asked, they told me I was getting the call because I was considered an "extremely strong candidate". I do not think it was a random call - but I could be mistaken.

That's just why I was wondering. Because they told me the same thing. I didn't know if everyone got such a call, it was random, or if it really meant something.

In the end it is clearly a good sign, so don't get your hopes up and just wait for a decision...so much easier than trying to figure out whether or not they randomly called people

It's something to talk about, though. xD Decisions come out in March right? Anyone know when they started handing out admissions letters last year?

Looking at last years discussion it looks like it was March 25th.

Decisions go out in general in late March. There's a lot to go out so everyone won't get them on the same day. You'll definitely find out online before you get the letter.

And I posted this before, but BU didn't call everyone. They weren't lying when they said they called because you're a strong applicant. It's something you SHOULD feel good about. Congrats :-) They just wanted to see if you had any lingering questions and to show you that even though we are a big school each person matters.

Thanks. ^_^ So you can find out online? Starting when?

I got an email saying they called and were unable to reach me...
my bad...

Around the same time, in late march. You won't find out insanely early, but probably 1-3 days before you get the letter.

At least I got accepted to my safety. xD It makes me less nervous about the whole thing.

It always feels good to get in somewhere :-) Don't worry too much, I'm sure you'll do fine. My little sister is going through the whole waiting process too and I feel for you guys. And just wait! Before you know it you get to go through the job search process like I am! (eek!)

Maybe the call did mean something because I was acceptecd. xD

congrats :)
