Come on. Keep on sending decision emails!

Oh, and she also said that you are not ruled out for the official acceptance e-mail if you didn’t get the travel plans e-mail

yeah. I also just called. The woman on the line stated that the emails will be released in batches and it most definitely doesn’t mean that you didn’t get in. However, it could just be that they don’t want to destroy all hope over the phone? The person specified that the emails were released for people that would need to make travel plans… Which is confusing seeing as people in NYC were getting these emails. Also, take this with a grain of salt as I talked with a student ambassador (albeit a very knowledgeable, and well spoken one).

D got hers too. Tisch/Drama.
Had gotten the travel plans email, even though we’re local.

Got the official email today too, what a relief! I was beginning to think the travel plans email was a mistake. Phew! Now, does anybody know how long it takes for an admissions packet to travel halfway across the world?

Okay, people, let’s be realistic here.

I HATE to say this, but I think it’s pretty true…

NYU has an acceptance rate around 25%; it may be a bit lower this year. A TON - a ton! - of people on CC received the travel plans email, and nearly everyone who got the acceptance email today got the travel plans email.

If I were you - if you haven’t seen either of those two emails - I would legitimately prepare for a rejection. I agree that there is a possibility you will get in, but I think it’s a SLIM, SLIM chance. Just be mentally prepared - don’t hope too much.

The best thing that can happen? You do get in. The worst? It hurts a bit and then you move on.

Just looking rationally at the numbers, I think it’s pretty clear where this is headed, and I’d be willing to bet money that the number of students that didn’t get either email will be tiny.

Congrats to acceptances!

Chins up for everyone still unsure.

It should also be noted that mass emails, like the ones NYU sends out, could take up to 48 hours to be fully distributed to everyones inbox. Pure logic says that near 11,000 emails don’t all get electronically delivered at the same time. My friend did not even get that travel plans email, sent last Friday, until Monday.

So I guess I’ll just expect a rejection in the mail soon. Congrats to whoever was accepted.

D got her acceptance e-mail today- Gallatin.
I’m very happy for her but I don’t like the confusion and anxiety that the “likely” e-mails cause to students. It is unfair.

It is unfair. I’d rather have a clear-cut rejection than have to anxiously wait as people get accepted everyday.

I just got mine too. From Houston (if location matters in anyway)
12:38pm for those wondering. Arts and sciences.

Don’t forget. Last year there were postcards that were like a hybrid between the “travel plans” email and this clear acceptance email (they were clear about acceptance but gave dates of events the applicant was invited to and said the official packet was coming soon). Not everyone who was ultimately accepted to NYU received one of those postcards first. Perhaps the postcard people were NYU’s top picks, who knows… but again:

Not everyone who was ultimately accepted received a postcard acceptance/invite. Given what people who just called NYU are being told, this will probably be true of these emails as well.

I got LSP’d…does it matter that i don’t get this?

got my official acceptance at 1:38PM EST, and I applied to Stern

also got the travel plans email

i also applied to Stern…I’m international. oh well.

D received e-mail (via my account) at 1:38 PM EST as well. She was LSP’s so I was a little surprised she received the e-mail. After RSVPing to LSP, she received an e-mail congratulating her and informing her the acceptance letter and paperwork would be mailed soon. She did not expect to get another acceptance e-mail but she is happy. She has been more focused on other choices and had sort of forgotten about NYU.

Congrats to all.

I received the “Book travels plans…” email but I haven’t received the offical one yet. I’m worried… I use hotmail, by the way. (Is hotmail slower compared to others?)

I got my official email at 2:00pm EST. College of Arts and Science. Also, I’m from Long Island which is pretty much a 40 min train ride away…so I guess it might be getting accepted alphabetically instead of regional…idk

I also got the other email. If you don’t get either email your chances are slim to none, but hey you might be that 1%! Stay positive they may not have finished sending them yet!

Accepted!! Gallatin.

Quite stoked.

GOT IT!! came on here to create the thread haha
CONGRATS TO ALL NYU 2014 ACCEPTED!!!
and GOOD LUCK to all waiting!
