I just got back from a meeting with a bunch of Gtown EA Acceptees from my area and two freshmen who were home for the holidays.

They made me wish for next year and sold me even more on Gtown...

they answered all my questions about dorm life, the city, transportation, weather, classes, the Open House (btw, they both STRONGLY recommended going to the open house, both of them were considering other places like Cal, UCLA, Washington St. Louis and others (one was SFS, the other MSB), but they said the Open House experience is what really sold them on Gtown)

they told me like everything i wanted to know and made me so excited to go there! both of them seem to really love it, even tho one i kno was a total party animal (he was my friend's ex and one of those guys u hate cuz he party's every weekend and still has like a 4.0), and the other was pretty conservative, home-body type of guy.

so if any of you guys have any questions u want to kno their answers on, i took some notes and listened very carefully, hehe!

now im all excited and i dont know HOW ill decide where to go, but all i can say rite now is HOYA SAXA and i kno that if i end up gtown itll be awesome!

btw, they had these awesome livestrong-like bracelets that were gray and said "HOYA" on them...man i want one!

one of them was writing for the Voice. he was the asst editor of sports, and he said he got the job by just talking to the sports editor and doing an assignment. he said other departments of the newspaper were more competitive, but for sports it was easier to get ur stuff published and he got to cover all the games and stuff. he also said that of the two newspapers, the Voice was the more leftist one because it was founded during the 1970s to allow students to speak out against the Vietnam War because the traditional one (The Hoya) hadn't allowed them to do that.

the other guy was involved with some kind of Korean club (dont remember the name, sorry) and they both said their floors got really into intramurals this year. this guy also worked for some kind of student organization that tutored underprivileged kids downtown on the weekend.

hmm...little known facts? well i was surprised to learn the gtown has the most lucrative/successful student run organization in the US. they said the student corps (i think thats what it was called) ran some coffee shops like Hoya Snaxa and some others and that you could get jobs with them pretty easily. Also, one of the guys worked for the Georgetown Credit Union (mostly student-run) as a teller but he was kind of using it as a bit of a paid internship on campus to get some business experience (he was MSB) and work his way up the ranks.

also, they both lived in New South and said they were awesome, like hotels! and then they said that Village C was going to be renovated as well by the time we got there, so the only thing to steer clear of was Harbin. Still, there's no way to choose your dorm preferences, all you can really do is hope for the best and use the CHARMS service to find a roommate, which they said most people said worked out really really well.

Btw, dont shoot me if any of this info is incorrect, im just working off my memory lol, there was a lot of info to take in. Any more questions, feel free to ask!

they contacted me by e-mail, and they said it was through the Student Ambassadors program (they were both members of that club/organization), so I assume there are people in other areas who do similar get-togethers. Also, they both said they went to one in my area last year, so I guess it happens pretty often. (As in almost every year in a lot of areas.)

it wasnt SFS-only, actually, as I found out. the guy who organized it just turned out to be SFS, but his roommate was MSB. i dont think it was "Bay Area" tho because there were only 2 guys there to answer our questions so they wanted to keep it small. I think it was only people in San Jose and the Peninsula, so kids from St. Francis in Mountain View, Paly, Bellairmine in SJ, Woodiside Priory, Sacred Heart in Atherton, Notre Dame Belmont, etc. there were only like 8 kids and their parents altogether.
