Typically (in years past), the very select few that are offered admission from the December (first) audition hear by email the week after the audition. Last year, you either were one of those select few or you received a rejection by mail. From that audition there were no deferrals. This was also made very clear at the info session "you will get a 'yes' or 'no' before Christmas".

Please note that it is very possible that they may have changed this for this year, but I would think that they would have told you this at the info session. Reason I am bringing it up is that we learned through a friend that CCM found themselves turning away too much talent from that first audition that they would have liked to have kept on the "may be" pile, at least until completition of all audition (like for example CMU does).

Just talked to one of my students who auditioned 2 weeks ago and talked to Aubrey Berg b/c he (the student) hadn't heard either way. Apparently they are keeping a "maybe" pile, according to Aubrey Berg - what he said to my student is "We really loved you but we are waiting until after the next audition to let you know." This also happened to a female student of mine from that first audition.

Yay for CoachC indirectly confirming that "my little birdie" did indeed have the inside scoop :D.

So, I would just go with "no news is good news, until you hear otherwise!" (keeping fingers crossed for all of you who have CCM as their first choice).

I would like to thank everybody for all of their helpful posts on my thread. Really, everybody is wondering these kinds of things, and I love that the people on this website are willing to help :)

Okay....
I called Cincinnati today....they told me at this time, they could not reveal any information about my auditon (***) and to call back on January 5th. Ummmm....WHAT DOES THAT MEAN???????

svb... I honestly have no idea what it means and so I will just offer up a conjecture of two possibilities (not based on the inner workings at CCM)....one possibility is that you are on the "maybe" pile until they hold more auditions. The other possibility could be that their winter break has started (I don't know if this is true) and that nobody in a position of authority could field your question until after the holiday break.

I looked up their academic calendar and the quarter ended on Dec. 13 and school resumes on Jan. 5 and this may very well by the reason for the reply which you received.

soozievt, youre so helpful!!!!!! that very well could be the reason, i agree. i cant believe i didnt even think about that! but what are your thoughts on this "maybe" pile. does it seem legit to you?

A "maybe pile" (which we don't know if you are on or not but let's hope so)....is very "legit"!!!! In fact, this is how many BFA programs operate. CCM happens to accept candidates on a rolling basis. Many programs wait until ALL auditions are completed before choosing the final class and everyone finds out on one date in the spring. So, at these other schools, if they like candidates at the earlier audition dates, they are held on a "maybe" pile and then once the auditions are all over, they have a pile that has been narrowed down that can then be finalized or whittled more and then finalized. Frankly, this makes sense (in my view) over sending out denials and acceptances ONLY after each audition date because they have yet to see their entire applicant pool.

Just to confirm the UC break/end of quarter. Grades were due today to the registrar. As I sit in my 15 office suite at UC I am the only one here and when I walked through the amin CCM building this morning and at lunch they were pretty empty.
I don't work in CCM but for a different UC college but the palce is VERY empty.

MTlover:
I have no idea, actually, I dont know if anybody does! But I imagine youre correct, that they're reluctlant to accept many students so early in the process :)

For anyone interested who frequently visited this thread, I called CCM today. They said they've yet to make a decison, and I will know as soon as next week or as late as the end of Feb. Not a flat out rejection :) I'll keep everyone posted!

Has anyone heard after auditioning January 10? I wondered if people hear immediately like that after each audition or only the ones on campus. My D is auditioning at a Regional site.
